The Barnwell High boys junior varsity soccer team put on an impressive show Friday in a 5-0 shutout win over Branchville High School.
For Barnwell High, Kenny Johnson was almost unstoppable as he led the team with three goals and an assist.
Also stepping up offensively were Kenny Burnett and Bailey Navarro, each with a goal. Offensively, Lionel Mason looked good with four near misses on five shots on goal. Mason was also credited with an assist in the game.
Barnwell High coach Luke Catoe said the team hopes to keep pushing forward after another satisfying win.
"No doubt this was a very good win for us today," Catoe said. "We had some nice possessions with a lot of good passing. Right now, we want to feed off of this win and keep the momentum going."
Highlighting the Warhorses on defense was keeper Devin Mack, who held the Yellow Jackets off the scoreboard with a season high four saves.
The Warhorses outside defenders who stood out were Dylan Bowen, Joseph Bodiford, Stencer Davis and Mason Cone.
"Defensively, I'm very pleased with our progress this season. We are not giving up a lot of open shots at our goal. That's because we have good spacing and we communicate well with each other," Catoe said.
