BHS junior varsity team gets revenge

On Friday in Barnwell, the Lady Warhorses junior varsity softball team avenged a 18-2 loss to Silver Bluff High by thumping the Lady Bulldogs 11-3 in five innings.
"We came out and played really well. I'm proud of all the girls," Barnwell coach Vanessa Mitchell said.
In the first meeting, the Lady Warhorses managed only five hits. This time, the Lady Warhorses got their bats cranked up on their first trip to the plate.
Sparked by singles from Makenzie Anderson, Kaylee Pridgen, Alyssa Still and Makayla Towne, the Lady Warhorses plated five runs in the first inning.
In the third inning and leading 6-2, the Lady Warhorses continued to manufacture runs. Towne led with a single, then scored moments later off a hit by Tori Sanders.
One inning later, the Lady Warhorse lead swelled to 9-2 on runs by Anna Beth Grissom, Makayla Anderson, Kaylee Pridgen and Sanders.
In the fifth inning, Sydney Burbage added the final run for the Lady Warhorses.
On the mound, Grissom was the top pitcher for Barnwell High. Grissom went the distance with three hits allowed and four strikeouts.
