Rabies Clinics
Barnwell Vet Clinic will hold rabies clinics at the following locations: Saturday, April 5 at the Williston Fire Dept. from 9 a.m. to noon; and April 5 at the Elko Fire Dept. from 1 to 4 p.m.
Dog and cat rabies vaccinations are $5. Other vaccinations will also be available. All profits will go to the Animal Advocates.

Horse Show
The Carolina Dirt Road Ryderz's 9th Annual Festival and Horse Show will be April 4-6 at the Reed Family Farm (1796 Izlar St., Blackville).
Festivities will begin on Friday, April 4, with Kids Day at 4 p.m., including food, fun, games and prizes. A Meet and Greet will be held Friday night. On Saturday, April 5, there will be a 10-mile early morning trail ride (including wagons), a gospel singing starting at 11 a.m., horse competitions, food, a live DJ and dancing.

Passion Play
The Barnwell County Passion Play at Hagood Avenue Baptist Church will be April 4-6 at 6:30 p.m. No tickets are required.

CPR Class
A CPR and First Aid class will be offered on Saturday, April 5, at 9 a.m. at the Barnwell Fire Department. It's offered on a first come, first serve basis until class is full.
It costs $30 per person, but you must register by calling the fire department at (803) 259-1930.

Lunch with
Easter Bunny
Children are invited to join the Easter Bunny for lunch and activities on Saturday, April 5, at 1 p.m. at Barnwell City Hall. Enjoy hot dogs, chips and a beverage. Kids will be able design and decorate their Easter eggs. It costs $3 per child and pre-registration is required.

Health Dept.
Open House
The S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control will hold an open house at the Barnwell County Health Department (11015 Ellenton St., Barnwell) on April 7 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
The open house will offer free resources to the public, including: BMI testing weight checks, light refreshments, nutrition information, information about what your health department does, and how we can help you, tours of the health department, information about local resources and more. No signup is required. 

Spring Fling
A Spring Fling will be held Thursday, April 10, from 5-7 p.m. on the Circle in downtown Barnwell. Join the Barnwell Development Association and the City of Barnwell Parks and Recreation for an evening of entertainment and activities. Music will be provided by Loose Stone. Kids will have lots of activities to enjoy (quarter-carnival with games and prizes, paint your own Easter Eggs, and lots more). Hot dog dinner and fixings will be available from the Boy Scout Troop 392. Other businesses will be open. 

Literacy Day
First Steps will host a literacy fair at Lemon Park on Friday, April 11, from 8:45 to 10:45 a.m. in celebration of the Week of the Young Child. Children will have several opportunities to participate in story reading, gross motor play and several other fun activities.
This event has been prepared for the children of Barnwell County and any others who are interested in attending. Several people will assist with this endeavor such as teachers, cadets and volunteers. County leaders are requested to read children's books.

Taste of Blackville
The 8th annual Taste of Blackville will be held Saturday, April 12. Tickets are available for the BBQ grill raffle at Enterprise Bank in Blackville ($2 each or three for $5). Drawing will take place at the festival.
There will be vendors, BBQ, inflatable slides, Blackville-Hilda High step team and band, pictures with the Easter Bunny, hat parade, and best dressed pet parade. Vendor forms are available at Enterprise Bank in Blackville.

Driver Safety
AARP Senior Driver Safety will hold classes on Thursday, April 17, and Thursday, July 17, at Generations Unlimited (10913 Ellenton St., Barnwell). Class will begin at 9 a.m. and run until 3:30 p.m.
The cost for class materials is $15 for AARP members and $20 for non-members, cash or check (payable to AARP). Completion of this class may result in a discount on the participant's automobile insurance.

Easter Egg Hunts
Allendale: New Life House of Love's annual Easter in the Park event will be held at Morris Holmes Park in Allendale April 19 from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. Activities include: face painting, egg hunt, games, raffles, etc. It is all free. There will also be free refreshments.

Barnwell: The City of Barnwell's Egg Hunt for children ages 2-10 years old will be Saturday, April 12, at 1 p.m. at Lemon Park. Children will be divided into their appropriate age groups. Prizes will be given to those who find the "prize eggs". 
Blackville: The Together Sisters are sponsoring their annual community Easter egg hunt will be held Saturday, April 19, at 3 p.m. at Moloney Field in Blackville. There will be lots of eggs, refreshments and prizes to give away. It is free.
Long Branch: The Long Branch Fire Department is sponsoring an Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 12, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. There will be lots of eggs to hunt. There will be different age groups. There will be a fire truck to explore and tires to climb. Also, they will have two bouncy units for the kids. Hot dogs will be served with chips, a drink and candy.
Williston: The Town of Williston Easter Egg Hunt will be held at the Williston Town Park on Saturday, April 19, at 1 p.m. Age groups will be: 3 and under, 4-6 and 7-10.

Get Out the Vote
The Allendale County Democratic Party will host a "Get Out the Vote" Rally and BBQ with U.S. Congressman James "Jim" Clyburn on Saturday, April 19, at the Allendale Community Center (217 Flat Street, Allendale) from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The Rally features free BBQ, Allendale-Fairfax High Band and JROTC, voter registration, door prizes and more.

Plant Sale
The FFA Plant Sale at Barnwell County Career Center is underway. Veggies, annuals, perennials and beautiful hanging baskets grown by the agriculture students will be sold Monday thru Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the school. Proceeds will be used for future projects of the FFA and student leadership opportunities.

Mi Rancho Night
Barnwell Elementary is having their next Mi Rancho Night Wednesday, April 2, from 4 to 8 p.m. Mi Rancho is donating 10 percent of their profits during this time to the school.

Yard Sale
The Ivy Garden Club of Williston's annual yard sale is Saturday, April 5, at the United Methodist Church on Springfield Road from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Many items will be offered, including plants. Proceeds go to Ivy Garden Club to finance ongoing projects at the downtown garden spot, library and Gourd People.

Shrine Club Golf Tournament
The El Bab Shrine Club will hold a fundraiser golf tournament April 5 at the Sweetwater Country Club. The Captain's Choice four man team tournament will begin with a shotgun start at 9 a.m.
Refreshments will be served on the course and a meal will be held at the Shrine Club after the tournament. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. Cost is $50 per player.

Yard/Bake Sale
Selena's Pink Promise Relay for Life Team will have a yard sale/bake sale on Saturday, April 5, at 7 a.m. at Hair Design Studio on Jackson Street in Barnwell. There will be a limited number of tickets for Boston butts ($30 each) to be purchased at the yard sale and picked up at Relay on April 25.
Cost is $15 per rider. Proceeds benefit Missy Reece's cancer treatments.
There will also be entertainment after all prizes have been given away or auctioned off. There will also be a yard sale at 8:30 a.m. Leg quarter plates will be sold for $6 at noon. Riders eat free with meal ticket.

Breast Cancer Awareness Run
A Breast Cancer Awareness Run for Missy Reese will be held April 5. There are two signup points beginning at 9:30 a.m.: Skynards in St. George and Ashley's Sports Bar and Grill in Williston. First bike will go out at 10 a.m. with last one at noon.

Easter Pet Photos
Hop! Hop! Hop! right over to the Friends for Life Center to have Pet & People Pictures made with the Easter Bunny on Saturday, April 5, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The photographer will be Trudy Collins with Treasure's by Trudy. The sitting fee is $25 which includes a flash drive of all of the pictures that are taken.

Susie Rosier 5K Run/Walk
The 8th Annual Susie Rosier Character of Fitness 5K Run and Walk will be April 12 at 8 a.m. at the Barnwell Veterans Memorial Park. Dogs are welcome to walk.
The $20 registration fee includes a T-shirt. Proceeds benefit the Barnwell County Animal Shelter Foundation's No Cost/Low Cost Spay/Neuter program. The funds also contribute to the foundation's support and improvements of the animal shelter.

Frog Jump Pageant
The 48th Annual Governor's Miss/Master Frog Jump "Semi-glitz" Beauty Pageant will be April 12 at Old Springfield High School auditorium (210 Brodie St., Springfield).
Groups: Boys: 0-2, 3-5, 6-9; Girls: 0-11, 12-23, 2yr, 3-4, 5-6, 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-15, 16-19, 20 & up (single/married). Beauty and Photogenic are $50. All applications and fees must be turned in by April 5.

Chamber Golf Tournament
The Barnwell County Chamber of Commerce Benefit Golf Tournament will be Friday, April 25, at Sweetwater Country Club in Barnwell. Registration begins at 9 a.m. with a Shotgun start at 10 a.m. The format is 4-person Captain's Choice and cost is $200 per team. Many prizes will be awarded, including Hole-in-One, Closest to the Pin, and Longest Drive.
Hole sponsorships also are available for $100.

FFA Rodeo Pageant
The Miss BCCC FFA Rodeo Pageant will be held April 26 at 6 p.m. at Barnwell Primary to benefit autism research.
A queen will be crowned in the following divisions: 1) 1st-4th grades, 2) 5th-8th grades, 3) 9th-12th grades with each division's queen winning a college scholarship, plus crowning of an FFA Sweetheart for most donations for autism collected.

National Poetry Month: The library will celebrate National Poetry Month during the month of April. Patrons are invited to drop off their original poetry or favorite poem for a special display. Poems can be dropped of anytime through April 23. All poems are subject to library manager's approval before displaying.

Diabetes Support
The Barnwell County Diabetes Support Group meets every Tuesday night from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Gail Reyes Senior Center (11403 Ellenton St./U.S. 278, Barnwell). It is a free group. The first diabetes support group will be April 15.
The facilitator is Darlene Sheets, A.S., B.S., M.S. & PhD Student in Psychology.

Alcoholics Anonymous
Alcoholics Anonymous (This is it! Group) meets on the following days at Refuge Outreach on Main Street in Williston between Hardee's and Family Dollar: every Sunday at 6 p.m. (open discussion; speaker on last Sunday); every Monday at 6:30 p.m. (open step/tradition study); and every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. (open big book study). Basketball Tournament
The City of Barnwell Parks and Recreation is organizing an outdoor basketball Street Ball 5 on 5 Tournament for those 15 and older for April 5, at Fuller Park basketball courts.
There is a team fee of $50 in advance or $60 day of event. Come out and enjoy music and see some friendly "Street ball" competition. Register at City Hall.

Golf Camp
A Spring Break golf camp will be held April 14-18 for teens 11 & up. It will be held Monday thru Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. at Lemon Park and Sweetwater Country Club. Cost is $15.
Participants will be introduced to the fundamentals of golf through chipping, putting, club stance, grip etiquette, and basic rules. Clubs will be provided.

The 40th annual Jacob Carroll family reunion will be held with lunch at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 13, at the Barnwell State Park community building. Bring a covered dish, beverages and desserts.
