Fire destroys Williston home

Williston and Elko firefighters had a busy morning Sunday, April 13.
As they returned to the station around 3 a.m. from a brush fire call, which turned out to be a controlled burn, they were called to 13326 Church St., Williston, for a reported house fire, said Williston Fire Chief Milton Widener.
Responding firefighters found flames coming from the left front bedroom. The fire soon spread into the attic and one other room before it was under control, said the chief.
Two people, who were renting the home, were inside at the time of the fire. No one was injured, he said.
The cause is not known, though Widener said it started in the front bedroom. He said they found hotspots around the bed.
