Blackville Music & Arts Festival returning this weekend
The Blackville Music and Arts Festival will take place May 16-17.
On May 16, the festival starts at 4 p.m. and on May 17; the festival starts at 11 a.m.
The public is invited to perform original music, poetry and spoken word. Any genre of music is accepted. The public can also participate in the open art displays by showing their own artworks, drawings, paintings, photography and ceramics.
A car and bike show will also take place on Saturday. Registration starts at 3 p.m. and the show starts at 5 p.m.
"We also have a special music guest Bishop Heanon will be doing his The Fearless Tour," said Terrance Washington, one of the coordinators for the festival. This performance will take place at 8 p.m. on Saturday.
A Blackville native, Abe Thompson, will perform. Thompson is also known as the rapper, Observe.
"I look forward to giving the community I grew up in hope that they can be somebody," said Thompson.
All participators are asked to arrive at least two hours before their scheduled performance time to check in.
