Annie Howard

Mrs. Annie Bell Hunter Howard, 75, formerly of Barnwell, departed this life on Thursday, May 1, 2014 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, Fayetteville, N.C. following a brief illness.
Mrs. Howard was born on December 23, 1938 in Barnwell. She worked for the Blackville-Hilda Public School System as a substitute teacher. She also worked as a teacher's aide within the child care industry in Fayetteville, N.C., Davis Monthan Air Force Base, Tuscon, Ariz., and Fort Belvoir, Va., for many years, devoting her life to the care and well-being of children.
Mrs. Howard was a lifetime member of Macedonia Baptist Church. She was also a member of New Beginning Missionary Baptist Church in Spring Lake, N.C., serving as a Sunday school teacher, Church Mother and mentor to all who knew her. In support of her husband's military career, Mrs. Howard traveled extensively, both internationally and within the United States, creating a warm and loving home for her family.
Beloved parents, Norman Hunter Sr. and Rosa Daniels Hunter, preceded her in death. Her beloved siblings, Norman Hunter Jr., Julia Hunter Simmons, and Ella Hunter Jackson also preceded her in death.
She leaves behind a devoted husband, John Lawrence Howard Sr. of Spring Lake, N.C.; three children, John Lawrence Howard Jr. of Georgetown, Denise Howard Jones of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Natalie (Clay) Howard-Robinson of Waldorf, Md.; three grandchildren, Brian Patrick Robinson of Atlanta, Ga., Jordan Roberts of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Kelson Reed of Georgetown; one sister, Annie Washington; two nieces, two nephews; special friends, Robert and Ann Tunnel of Spring Lake, N.C.; special cousin, Bernice Daniels Butler of Blackville; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at Macedonia Baptist Church, Blackville, with Rev. Floyd Hughes and Rev. N.A. McNeal officiated. Interment services followed at Hope Memorial Park Cemetery, Barnwell.
Dash's Funeral Home of Blackville, was in charge of arrangements.
