Farmers Markets
Barnwell: The Fuller Park Farmers Market is open to local artisans and crafters this year and we encourage those in the area to participate in the market. They are accepting vendor applications for the 2014 season. May- September market is on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m and Thursday nights from 5-8 p.m..

Elko: The Elko Farmers' Market is seeking vendors for its 2014 season, including farmers and gardeners with cool weather crops, early spring produce like salad greens, broccoli, cabbage, beets, garden peas, spinach and other greens. Berries and bedding plants are also good sellers in the spring and early summer. Crafters and bakers are also welcome.
It's every Saturday until mid-fall, at the corner of Hwy. 78 in Elko. WIC vouchers and senior checks are also accepted.

River Trips
The Bamberg County Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring South Fork River Trips the third Saturday during the months of June through September - July 19, August 16 and September 20. Meet at Bobcat Landing (on U.S. 301) north of Bamberg by 9 a.m.
Free shuttle service is provided, but donations are accepted.

Driver Safety Class
AARP Senior Driver Safety will hold a class on Thursday, July 17, at Generations Unlimited (10913 Ellenton St., Barnwell). Class will begin at 9 a.m. and run until 3:30 p.m. You may bring lunch or purchase it for a nominal fee from Generations Unlimited.
The cost for class materials is $15 for AARP members and $20 for non-members, cash or check (payable to AARP). Completion of this class may result in a discount on the participant's automobile insurance.

Evening with Jenks Farmer
On July 17 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Jenks Farmer will read from his new book, Deep Rooted Wisdom. Event will take place at the Salkehatchie Arts Center in Allendale. The Arts Center will provide food and drink. This event is free and open to the public.
13th Annual Gospel Extravaganza
Saxophonist James "Bo" Gardner celebrates his 13th Annual Gospel Extravaganza on July 20 at 4 p.m. at the Williston-Elko High School Auditorium. Musical guests include Joesphine Dicks and the Inspirers, John Wrights, Radio Angels. Doors open at 3 p.m. and donations are accepted.
2014 Summer Recreation Program
Programs are for ages 6-18 and will be at the Denmark Technical College Gymanisum. There is no cost for these programs. On July 14-17 all times are from 9-1 p.m. Anyone interested can sign up at Denmark City Hall.
LSRA Kite Outing
LRSA will have a Kite Outing on August 2 starting with a meeting at Lower Savannah River Alliance Center at U.S. Hwy. 301 South of Allendale at 8 a.m. The cost is $20.
"God of Carnage" Auditions
Circle Theatre (Academy Street in Barnwell) will hold auditions for "God of Carnage" on July 22-23 at 7 p.m. Roles are available for two adult men and two adult women.
Back 2 School Bash
City Wide Youth Empowerment will have a Back to School Bash on August 16 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Fuller Park. There will be free school supplies, free hair cuts, free food, games and music. They are also taking donations and volunteers. For more information call Shelby Williams at 803-671-4889.
‘An Evening of Jazz and Entertainment'
Denmark Alumni Chapter of Voorhees College and Voorhees High School will sponsor an evening of jazz and entertainment featuring Jazz Artist Carl Frederick Wright of Spartanburg on July 26 starting at 7 p.m. at the Massachusetts Hall at Voorhees College.
Jailbreak Escape
The Lexington County Sheriff's Foundation will host a Jailbreak Escape on August 23. Registration begins at 6:15 a.m. with the race beginning at 8 a.m. Entry is $50 for a two person team and $30 for single before August 21.

"Rapping for Life"
The Blackville Neighborhood Watch will be sponsoring an information session "Rapping for Life" on July 18 from 4 to 6p.m. at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Blackville. Various speakers will be on hand to speak to the group and there will be an open forum rap session where the attendees will be able to ask questions and talk about whatever in on their mind. This event is geared toward children ages 6-18. Any child under the age of six must be accompanied by a parent.

11th Annual Children & Youth Fun Day
The Annual Children and Youth Fun Day will be held on July 19 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Progresssive Family Life Center on 284 Professive Way, Denmark. This event is free and refreshments are provided. This event is sponsored by the Bamberg Branch of NAACP.
Cook Off Competition
The Aaron Manigault Annual Schholarship "Cook Off Competition" will be held on August 2 at 6 p.m. at 3159 Charleston-Augusta Road in Bamberg. Donation proceeds will assist a graduating high school senior who has excelled academicaly and athletically. There will be music, games, horse rides and more.
EL BAB Shrine Club 2014 Biker's Bash
EL BAB Shrine Club's 2014 Biker's Bash "Working for the Kids" will be on August 9. The motorcycle rally begins and ends at the club, 571 Patterson Mill Road in Barnwell. The prizes include a Bad Boy 61 Outlaw Zero Turn 36 Horsepower Mower, a Browning A-5 12 Gauge Shotgun and a 45 quart Yeti Cooler.

Barnwell High School Registration
Barnwell High School will have 2014-2015 Registration each day from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Freshmen register on August 4. Sophomores register on August 5. Juniors register on August 6. Seniors Register on August 7. Registration Fee is $25 and Parking Decals are $25. All fees must be paid with cash or money order.
Barnwell Academy Registration
Barnwell Academy is now accepting applications for the 2014-2015 school year for Preschool-6th grade. Barnwell Academy is a faith-based, SCISA accredited Christian school now located on Ellenton Street.

Jefferson Davis Academy
Jefferson Davis Academy is now accepting applications for 2014-145 school year. Grade levels for enrollment are 3K - 12th grades. They also offer an afterschool care program from 2 to 4 p.m. for a very nominal fee.

Winfield Heights Kindergarten
Winfield Heights Christian Kindergarten is enrolling for the 2014-15 school year for grades K3, K4 and K5.

Barnwell Primary School
New student registration only is on Monday-Thursday from 8 a.m. to noon at the Barnwell Primary School. Registration is from June 9-July 31. Records that are required are birth certificate, SC shot record, child's social security card, two current dated proof of residence and the power bill is required as one proof of residence.
USC Salkehatchie Orientation
USC Salkehatchie will have orientation on July 22 and August 19 for East Campus at Walterboro from 10 a.m. to 3 pl.m. July 23 and August 18 will be West Campus orientation in Allendale from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Classes begin on August 21.

Cheer Clinic
Jefferson Davis Academy is sponsoring a cheer clinic from July 22-25. Cost is $50 includes T-shirt, snack, cheer and dance instruction and games.

Recreational Soccer
Registrations for Recreational Soccer are being accepted by the Barnwell Soccer Club from July 7 through August 15. The registration fee is $65. Youth aged 4-13 years of age are eligible to register (U-6 through U-14)-cannot be 14 before August 1. Registration forms can be picked up at Anthony's Restaurant, Enterprise Bank in Barnwell, and Barnwell City Hall. Completed registration forms and registration fees can be dropped off at Anthony's Restaurant and Enterprise Bank in Barnwell or you can mail your registration form and payment to Barnwell Soccer Club, 55 Laurel Street, Barnwell, S.C. 29812.

Recreation Football and Cheerleading
Allendale County Recreation Department is sponsoring recreation football and cheerleading. Registration is from July 1 to August 4. This is for ages 5-13. practices begin August 4 at 6 p.m. Registration fee is $4. for more information call Lori Joyner at (803) 584-7041.
Football and Cheerleading Registration
City of Barnwell Parks and Recreation Department is having Youth Football and Cheerleading Registration on July 24 and July 29 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Barnwell City Hall. Divisons offered are Flag, Pee Wee, Small Fry and Mites.
Zumba Classes
Zumba classes are held on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 10 to 11 a.m. $5 per class. Classes are held at the Effie Mae Community Center at the corner of Hagood and Marlboro, Barnwell.

Barnwell Soccer Club
The Barnwell Soccer Club will hold its annual meeting on July 28 at the Barnwell County Library starting at 7 p.m.
Blackville Planning Commission
The Town of Blackville Planning Commission will meet on July 24 at 3:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers of the Blackville Town Hall.

Host Famlies Needed
Northwest Services Peace (NWS) Program is seeking local host families for international boys and girls from all around the world. These students are 15 to 18 years of age and are coming to the United States for a high school year or semester. The students are well screened and qualified by NWS. Whether you are a single parent, retired, have small children, teens, or no children, you can have a great exchange experience hosting an international teen!
