Sales tax committee gives Snelling more time
The Capital Project Sales Tax Committee gave the Town of Snelling more time to revise their project list at the July 8 meeting.
Snelling representatives were not present at the first committee meeting when the rest of the municipalities discovered that more money may be distributed should this 1 percent tax pass in November.
The committee is still working on the referendum for the Barnwell County Council to vote on at their August 12 meeting. Council must approve the referendum in order for it to be on the November ballot.
Chairman Lynn Cox wants to encourage all the municipalities to again "make sure the numbers are right."
The next meeting to discuss the municipalities' project lists and estimates will be on July 28 at 6 p.m.
