A Williston teen was killed Friday night after he was ejected from his truck.

Mackenzie Webster, 16, was pronounced dead at the scene of the one vehicle wreck on Highway 39, just north of the Town of Williston, according to Barnwell County Coroner Lloyd Ward.

"It appears Mr. Webster lost control of the truck and it rolled several times and he was ejected. No signs of seat belt usage were found," Ward said.

The accident happened around 8:40 p.m. Friday, July 18, as Webster was driving south on Highway 39. His 1998 Toyota pickup ran off the right side of the road, went over to the left side and lost control, and then came back to the roadway and overturned, according to Lance Cpl. Judd Jones with the SC Highway Patrol.

Webster's cause of death is head and chest trauma. A toxicology test will be performed, said Ward.

The incident is being investigated by the SCHP and the Barnwell County Coroner’s Office.

This is the third traffic related death on the county's roads this year.
