A Williston woman died over the weekend from injuries she sustained last Thursday when a car hit the moped she was driving.
Teretha Creech, 48, of Williston, was pronounced dead Saturday afternoon, August 9, at Georgia Regents University Medical Center in Augusta, Ga. She died of severe head trauma she suffered a few days earlier in a wreck, said Denise Cato, a deputy coroner for Barnwell County.
Creech was driving her 2012 moped south on Highway 37 a little after midnight August 7 when she was struck from behind by a 2008 Nissan four-door. That vehicle was driven by 35-year-old Antonio Early of Barnwell, according to Lance Cpl. Judd Jones with the S.C. Highway Patrol.
An incident report provided by the Barnwell County Sheriff's Office states Creech was wearing a yellow traffic vest at the time of the wreck.
Creech was transported to GRU, but later died.
Jones said speed and alcohol are not factors in the wreck. No charges have been filed as of press time.
