The Barnwell County Council has called a special meeting at council chambers on August 21 at 6 p.m.
There is only one item of business on the agenda, which is the third reading of the ordinance related to the Economic Development Corporation.
At the last county council meeting, a vote was passed to postpone the third reading until the SLED investigation into past EDC events was finished.
This all goes back to "donated" land that the former EDC board deeded to the three municipalities of Barnwell, Williston and Blackville.
All three municipalities passed ordinances to deed the land and assets back to the EDC board under the agreement that a new board would be formed.
After the third reading was postponed, the Barnwell City Council read an ordinance to start a repeal to re-deed the land back to the EDC.
Even though the SLED investigation has not been completed, the county council will still meet to discuss and possibly do the third reading of the EDC ordinance regardless.
"We don't need a fight with the towns," said Councilman Keith Sloan, adding he did not know why some of the members changed their minds.
