Bodiford earns school car

A Barnwell County Career Center student earned prizes after finishing first in an automotive competition.
Barnwell County Career Center Automotive Technology student Nicklaus Bodiford and his instructor Hollis Fenn attended the 2013 All Star Automotive Technology Competition Feb. 21 at the Automotive Training Center at Midlands Technical College Beltline Campus in Columbia.
Ten S.C. seniors who attend NATEF (National Automotive Technician Educational Foundation) accredited training programs qualified for the hands-on competition by a written exam in December.
The hands-on competition consisted of 12 different diagnostic and repair tasks in the ASE certification areas of Brakes, Electrical/Electronics, Steering and Suspension, and Engine Performance. The students had a 20-minute time limit for each task.
Bodiford finished in first place and won a Snap-On tool chest with tools for him and a 2011 Dodge Caliber for the BCCC Automotive Technology program. The prizes were donated by the S.C. Automobile Dealers Association.
Bodiford is a senior at Barnwell High School and is a participant in the BCCC School-to-work Program, working at Auto Supply and Service (NAPA) in Barnwell.
