Nobles named SC FFA Star Farmer

The Barnwell County Career Center FFA along with over 110 other South Carolina FFA chapters participated in the 87th Annual South Carolina FFA Convention held at the Brooks Center for Performing Arts of Clemson University June 11-13.
Watching as chapter president Coltin Nobles was recognized as the South Carolina FFA Star Farmer of the Year was definitely the highlight of the trip for the BCCC members.
Following a slideshow presentation of Coltin's achievements in team roping, horse training, and swine production, a plaque and a $1,200 scholarship were presented to Nobles. His FFA advisor, Mrs. Mindy Sandifer, accompanied Nobles on stage for the prestigious award presentation.
Coltin is a 2014 graduate of Barnwell High School and will attend Horry Georgetown Technical College in the Fall before transferring to Clemson University for a B.S in Agribusiness. He is the son of Jade and Pam Nobles of Barnwell.
In addition to the Star Farmer Award, the Barnwell County Career Center FFA chapter was also recognized for 75%+ membership and as a Superior National Chapter for their activities throughout the chapter and community.
The 2014-15 Chapter Treasurer Kayla Carroll received the membership award and 2013-14 Chapter Vice President Makayla Watkins received the National Chapter Award for the group.
During the trip to the state convention, BCCC FFA members participated in the "Helping Hands" project where they volunteered at a local abused children's home for a morning. Following the community service project, the group had the opportunity to visit waterfalls along the SC/ NC/ GA mountains.
