Nana’s Flowers & Gifts opens in Barnwell
A Barnwell couple is hoping their new business will blossom near downtown Barnwell.
Nana’s Flowers & Gifts opened at 39 Franklin Street on Oct. 30. It is owned by Lynnette Carroll who has worked in the floral industry for 14 years.
“We’ve always had a dream of working for ourselves. She can make anything,” said Todd Carroll of his wife.
They use real and silk flowers to create centerpieces and arrangements. She also creates wreaths out of flowers and ribbons. The shop also sells live plants and hanging baskets.
“We have fresh cut flowers for any occasion,” said Lynnette.
Lynnette said she loves the hands-on aspect of her job as she uses her creativity to come up with beautiful and colorful arrangements. While the shop has a variety of ready-made items, Lynnette is also happy to do custom orders.
“We want people to be satisfied,” said Todd.
Nana’s Flowers & Gifts offers free delivery to funeral homes in the tri-county area of Barnwell, Bamberg and Allendale counties.
The Carrolls also want to give back to the community they were born and raised in. That’s why they give away a free flower arrangement weekly to three churches, one from each county. To enter the drawing, church members just need to come by the shop and put their church’s name in.
The shop also offers a variety of gifts, such as Mason jar soap dispensers and balloon bouquets. However, she said they will be adding more gifts soon, including Christmas items.
Lynnette came up with the shop’s name because she is known as “Nana” to her grandchildren. “They are the love of my life,” she said.
Nana’s Flowers & Gifts is open Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. They can be reached at (803) 621-2395. The emergency number is (803) 226-5245.
