Come out to Barnwell State Park on Nov. 25 at 4 p.m. to witness an exciting blacksmith demonstration and learn about the history of blacksmithing. You will also learn about outdoor cooking. All ages welcome to this free event.
Holiday Family Portraits
Tabernacle Baptist Church (3076 Dexter Street, Blackville) will be taking holiday pictures and family portraits on Nov. 24 from 4-8 p.m. and Nov. 25 from 8 a.m. to noon. A $10 non-refundable deposit is required. Various packages are available.
Senior Center Open House
An open house will be held on Nov. 28 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Golden Retreat Senior Center in Blackville for seniors (age 60+). Light refreshments will be served.
Solarize SC Presentation
Solarize SC will be leading a presentation Nov. 30 at 6 p.m. at the Blackville Community Center. Light refreshments will be provided. Farmers are encouraged to attend to see how you can be saving money with solar energy. Event is sponsored by Blackville Downtown Development Corporation.

The Church of the Holy Apostles annual chili supper is Saturday, Dec. 2 at 5 p.m. (after the Christmas Parade) in the Parish Hall. Eat in or take out. Chili, cornbread and dessert for $8.
Allendale ALIVE Forum
Celebrate the season with Allendale County ALIVE, Inc. at their 19th Annual Forum on Tuesday, December 5 at 7 p.m. in the James Brandt Building Auditorium (398 Barnwell Hwy., Allendale). Board elections will be held and there will be program updates.
DTC Holiday Concert
Denmark Technical College will hold its Annual Holiday Concert on Tuesday, Nov. 28 at 7 p.m. Come hear the choir sing Christmas songs and see the Jr. Panthers (local pre-k through 5th graders) sing as only they can! The event is free and open to the public. It will be held in the William L. McDuffie Student Services Center (gym).

Williston: The Town of Williston Christmas Parade will be held on Sunday, December 3, 2017 at 4:00PM on Main Street. Breakfast with Santa
Breakfast with Santa is Saturday, Dec. 2 at 10 a.m. at the Barnwell County Public Library. Participants must register at Barnwell City Hall. Space is available until filled. Cost is $6 per child. Ages under two are free, but still must be registered.
Christmas Tree Lightings
Barnwell: The Christmas Tree Lighting Service on the Circle with the Love Light Dedication will be Thursday, Nov. 30 at 5:30 p.m. followed by the Christmas by Candlelight shopping downtown with snow guaranteed in the forecast. Blackville: Blackville’s Christmas Tree Lighting is Sunday, Dec. 10 at 5 p.m. Choirs are invited to participate.
Kline: The Town of Kline’s Christmas Tree Lighting is Sunday, Dec. 3 at 5 p.m. in front of town hall.
Snelling: The Town of Snelling will celebrate its 30th Annual Christmas Tree Lighting on Sunday, Nov. 26 at 6 p.m. in front of town hall. Doctors, Lawyers and Indian Chiefs will be performing live. They will also have a snow machine and area for kids to play. Refreshments will be served.
Williston: Williston’s Christmas Tree Lighting is Saturday, Dec. 2 at 5:30 p.m. in downtown.
Candy Cane Hunt
The Candy Cane Hunt will be Saturday, Dec. 2 at 2 p.m. at Lemon Park in Barnwell. This is free for ages walking to 12.
Festival of Nativities
Williston United Methodist Church will celebrate the birth of Christ with a Festival of Nativities on Saturday and Sunday, December 9 and 10, from 1 to 5 p.m. A walking tour of over 100 creches displayed throughout the entire church will remind you of the true meaning of Christmas. Crafts and baked goods will be available for purchase. Admission is free but donations are accepted. All proceeds go towards United Methodist Women mission projects.
Barnwell State Park (223 State Park Road, Blackville) invites all ages to join them at Shelter 4 on Dec. 16 at 2 p.m. to make holiday ornaments with a park ranger. Natural materials will be used as a base, but you can use your creativity to make them unique. Cost is $2 per participant.
Williston Turkey Shoot
The Williston Fire Department’s 2nd Annual Turkey Shoot is underway every Friday and Saturday from 7-10 p.m. through Dec. 2. It’s held on Barnwell Road in Williston near Winfield Heights Baptist Church.
Cost is $4 per shot. There are several different meats to choose from. Funds will be used to build a building to house the “Old Glory” fire truck.
First Baptist Church of Barnwell is extending its “Bargain Sale” to benefit “The Elevator Fund”. The sale has been extended to every Thursday, Friday and Saturday (except Thanksgiving weekend) from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. until Dec. 9. There is lots of Christmas Items, toys, jewelry, clothes, furniture and more. Sale is at 21 Allen St., Barnwell.
A pancake breakfast fundraiser will be held Saturday, Dec. 2 at the Hope Lodge (13088 W. Main Street, Williston) from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cost is $8 and includes pancakes, sausage, eggs, grits and coffee/tea. Funds support Growl in its mission to help animals.
The Barnwell Rural Fire Department will hold a BBQ fundraiser on Saturday, Dec. 2 from noon until 7 p.m. at 332 Calhoun St., Barnwell. Dinners of chopped meat, hash and rice, and two sides will be $9. Chopped meat by the pound is $9/pound. BBQ Boston Butts are $25 (pre-order only).

Santa’s Senior Shoe Box Project
Join Generations Unlimited in filling hundreds of shoe boxes with gifts for local needy senior citizens this holiday season by participating in Santa’s Senior Shoe Box Project. How to help: Find an empty shoe box, wrap it if possible, determine whether it’s for a male or female and place a label, fill the box with new gifts (calendars, socks, slippers, scarf, gloves, magazines, books, lotions, soaps, sealed candy, etc.), deliver box to Generations Unlimited (10915 Ellenton Street, Barnwell) Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. or the senior centers from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Drop off by Dec. 15.
Give the gift of reading. Honor or commemorate a loved one by donating to the children’s and teen book collections. Visit a Giving Tree at the Barnwell, Williston, and Blackville libraries from Nov. 20 to Jan. 2. For a contribution of $20, a book plate will be placed in a book selected from one of the Giving Trees. Acknowledgement cards are available to give to the honoree or family.

• Teen Anime & Manga Club: Thursday, Nov. 30 from 7-8:30 p.m. Share in the love of Japanese comics and animation. All teens in grades 7-12 are welcome. Snacks provided.
•Preschool Story Time: Thursday, Nov. 30 at 11 a.m. (Note time change). Stories, songs and more for ages 3-5. Stay after for 30 minutes of free play.

- Monday, Nov. 27 at 1 p.m.: “The Zookeeper’s Wife” (The movie tells the account of keepers of the Warsaw Zoo, who helped save hundreds of people and animals during the German Invasion. Rated PG-13.)
•Tech Help Tuesday: Tuesday, Nov. 28 from 10 a.m. to noon. Come by the library with your personal devices (laptop, tablet, kindle, phone, etc.) and learn about the digital services the library has to offer and more.
The 2nd Annual Guinyard-Butler High/Barnwell High School Reunion is in the words for all members of Butler High, Guinyard-Butler High and Barnwell High School classes from 1971 to 1974. Reunion will be August 18 or 25, 2018. Emails of class members are being sought.
