Jason Schumpert (Elko)
Funeral services for Jason Allen Schumpert, 43, of Elko, will be held at 3:30 p.m., Sunday, December 17, 2017 in the Folk Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Tom Baker officiating; burial will be in the Williston Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home on Sunday. Memorial contributions may be given in Jason’s memory to the Elko Fire Department, P.O. Jason passed away on Wednesday, December 13, 2017.
Born in Aiken, he was the son of Jessie Martin “Marty” Schumpert and Linda Allen Schumpert. Jason was a graduate of Williston-Elko High School, was owner/operator of Schumpert’s Horseshoeing, and was a certified welder and a blacksmith. He was a member of the Farrier Association, a charter member of the Barnwell County Leathernecks detachment #1227 of the Marine Corps League and the Elko Fire Department. He was a U.S. Marine veteran having served during Desert Storm and was previously stationed in Okinawa, Japan. During his time in the Marines he earned and was honored with many medals and ribbons for his achievements and accomplishments.
In addition to his parents, Marty and Linda, survivors include his son, Ty Schumpert; his daughters, Audra Schumpert and Jackie Edwards; their mother, Sharon Schumpert; his sister and brother-in-law, Rhonda and Michael Allen; nephews, Hunter and Wyatt Allen; maternal grandmother, Barbara Allen and a number of cousins, aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, David Allen and his paternal grandparents, Elma and Ralph Schumpert.
