Snelling Tree Lighting
The town of Snelling's annual Christmas tree lighting service will be held Sunday, Nov. 25 at 7 p.m. in front of the Snelling Town Hall.

‘A Christmas Story' performace
Circle Theatre's production of Jean Shepherd's A Christmas Story, brought to you by USC Salkehatchie, and directed by Ric Douglas, opens Nov. 30. Performances are Nov. 30 and Dec. 1, 7, 8, 14 and 15 at 8 p.m. and Dec. 2 and 9 at 3 p.m.
This classic American Christmas tale is a hilarious account of Ralphie's quest to get the perfect Christmas gift.
Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and students. Season ticket holders are also encouraged to make advance reservations.

Barnwell Tree Lighting
On Thursday, Nov. 29 at 5:30 p.m., the city of Barnwell will hold their annual Christmas Tree Lighting and Love Light Program followed by the annual Christmas by Candlelight.

Many stores will be open and even a special mini-mall of local artists and businesses will be open for shoppers. Santa will be there in the old Police Station for photos.

Barnwell Parade
The city of Barnwell's annual Christmas parade through downtown will be held Saturday, Dec. 1 at 4 p.m. Entering the parade is free, but registration is required by Nov. 29.

Elf Contest
The town of Williston will hold their second annual elf contest Nov. 30 at 5:30 p.m. at the Williston Town Hall for children (Williston residents) in first through fifth grade. Children could win a chance to ride with Santa in the parade.

Pictures with Santa
The town of Williston will have Pictures with Santa on Nov. 30 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Williston Town Hall. People can bring their own cameras or there will be a professional photographer offering packages.

Blood Drive
Shepeard Community Blood Center will host a blood drive Friday, Nov. 30 from 1 to 6 p.m. at The People-Sentinel's parking lot (9988 Dunbarton Blvd., Barnwell).
November donors will be entered for a chance to win a $250 Visa gift card.

Breakfast
with Santa
The annual Breakfast with Santa will be held Saturday, Dec. 1 at 10:30 a.m. at the Barnwell County Public Library. The cost is $5 per child.

Williston Parade
The town of Williston will hold their annual Christmas parade Sunday, Dec. 2 at 4 p.m. Awards will be given for best band, best float, best character, best auto and best golf cart.

Kline Tree Lighting
The town of Kline's annual Christmas tree lighting service will be held Dec. 2 at 5 p.m. by the Kline Town Hall.

Signal Corps Band
A free community Christmas concert featuring the Fort Gordon Signal Corps Band will be held Thursday, Dec. 6 at 7 p.m. at Barnwell First Baptist Church's Merge Student Center. It is sponsored by the Barnwell FBC, Barnwell County Arts Council and City of Barnwell.
Seating is limited, so those with tickets will be seated first. Free tickets are available at the church, Barnwell City Hall, Evelyn's Jewelry, Willie's Hardware in Blackville and Rivers Pharmacy in Williston.

Blackville Parade
The town of Blackville's annual Christmas parade along Solomon Blatt Avenue will be Dec. 8 at 11 a.m.
Those wishing to enter should pick up an application at town hall.

Nativity Festival
Williston United Methodist Church (6030 Springfield Rd., Williston) will host their annual Nativity Festival Dec. 8 from 4 to 7 p.m. and Dec. 9 from 1 to 4 p.m.
Stroll through displays of unique nativity scenes. There will also be Christmas crafts and baked goods for purchase. Admission is free, but donations are greatly appreciated. All proceeds benefit the church's Women Mission projects.

Blackville Tree Lighting
The town of Blackville's annual Christmas tree lighting will be held Dec. 9 at 4 p.m. on Main Street.

Holiday Market
Barnwell High School's School Improvement Council will host The Holiday Market in their gym on Dec. 15 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. They are currently seeking vendors.
Space is limited for vendors. Registration is $35 and should be made payable to the Barnwell High School SIC. It includes individual space, an 8-foot table and access to an electrical outlet.

Candy Cane Hunt
The city of Barnwell's Candy Cane Hunt will be held Saturday, Dec. 15 at 10:30 a.m. It is free for children ages walking to 12.

 

Love Lights
On Thursday, Nov. 29 at 5:30 p.m., the city of Barnwell will hold their annual Christmas Tree Lighting and Love Light Program followed by the annual Christmas by Candlelight.
The last day to make a donation for the Love Light fund is Nov. 26, which can be done at City Hall. A $5 donation puts a light on the Christmas tree in honor or in memory of a loved one, though larger donations are welcome. Love Lights will be accepted after Nov. 26, but will not be in the printed program or the newspaper. 
The money raised helps local elderly through three programs: Meals on Wheels Program at Generations Unlimited, Residents' Fund at the Barnwell County Nursing Home and Rotary Club's Coins for Alzheimer's Research Trust (CART). Miss Fire & Ice
The Williston-Elko High School Blue Fire Drumline will host the second annual Miss Fire and Ice Pageant Saturday, Dec. 1 at 11 a.m. at the district auditorium. The pageant will raise funds to buy new percussion equipment and supplies for the band.
The pageant is open to all girls (ages infant to 19 years old) and
the application is due by November 19. A 15 late fee will be added after Nov. 19, making the total cost $75.
Admission to watch the pageant is $5, though children five and under are free.

Secret Santa Pageant
The application deadline for the 2013 Barnwell County Secret Santa Beauty Pageant, which will be held Dec. 1 in the Barnwell Primary School auditorium, has been extended to Nov. 24.
Proceeds benefit the Secret Santa Program which provides Christmas to over 500 children every year and your support would be greatly appreciated.

Youth Basketball
The registration deadline for the 2012 Youth Basketball is Nov. 30. This can be done at Barnwell City Hall Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
The fee is $30 for residents and $34 for non-residents. There is also a $13 uniform fee, though uniforms from previous years can be used.
The age of the participant on February 28, 2013 is the age in which they participate. Co-ed Basketball (Micros:  5-6 year olds and Pee Wee: 7-8 year olds), Boys Basketball (Small Fry: 9-10 year olds and Mites: 11-13 year olds) and Girls Basketball (Misses: 9-13 year olds).
