Police seek help in Williston break-ins

The Williston Police Department is seeking the public's help in a duo of break-ins on Marie Street last week.
The break-ins occurred sometime between Dec. 26 and 27 at two homes. Nothing was stolen from one home because it was vacant, but a couple 42-inch flat-screen televisions and a laptop were stolen from the other, said Williston Police Chief Roger Kaney.
A utility trailer was also stolen in the past couple weeks from a residence on Main Street near Dixie-Narco, said Kaney.
No suspects have been arrested in connection to any of the thefts, though police are investigating.
While nothing can ever prevent a break-in, there are steps residents across the county can take to help deter thieves.
Kaney said residents should keep bushes around windows cut and keep lights on when they are not home. They should also alert neighbors, or even the police, to keep an eye out when they are not home.
"Let us know," said Kaney. "We'll keep a watch" by doing patrols.
Anyone with information on the thefts should call the Williston Police Department at (803) 266-7011.
