Relay for Life
Kick-off for the 2013 Relay For Life will be Thursday, Jan. 10 at the SouthernCarolina Alliance Business Center's Edisto Room at 6:30 p.m. All interested in having a team or would like more information are welcome to come. Relay will be held April 26, 2013 at Veterans Park.

Kidney Class
A Kidney Smart education class will be held Tuesday, Jan. 29 at 2 p.m. at Davita Dialysis Center in Aiken (775 Medical Park Dr.).
The free class encourages participants to take control of their kidney disease, make a plan and stay the course.

Free Art Club
Jade Bolin and the Art in My Heart Club (children ages 10-18) meet at the Barnwell County Museum every Wednesday from 3:30-5:30 p.m. It is free to the public; just bring your own supplies.

Rivers Bridge Tour
The Rivers Bridge State Historic Site (near Ehrhardt) offers guided tours of the battlefield the first Saturday of each month at 10 a.m. Visitors are to meet at the park community building for demonstrations of Civil War equipment and stories.
Park admission is free, but the tour costs $5 for adults and $3 for students (ages 6-16).

Raffle Fundraiser
A raffle fundraiser to benefit Philip Fail is going on through Saturday, Feb. 23. The prize is a 12'x8' utility barn with siding and shingles made by Don's Utility Barns.
Ticket locations include: Fairfax Pharmacy (c/o Carol Beth Davis), Gordon's Barber Shop in Barnwell (c/o William DeFreest), and Country Cutters in Hampton (c/o Lindsay Jones).

Chamber Discount Card
The Barnwell County Chamber of Commerce is selling Discount Cards which includes discounts from local businesses. The cost of the card is $20 and it is valid until Sept. 30, 2013.

Montessori Meetings
Barnwell Primary School will hold meetings Jan. 8 at 7:30 a.m. and Jan. 15 at 6:30 p.m. for parents of children (ages 3 years old by Sept. 1, 2013) interested in their child being in the Montessori program for the 2013-14 school year. Parents only need to attend one meeting, which will be held in the school's auditorium.
The meetings will share the purpose of a Montessori education and the application process
All applications including child's certified birth certificate, SC shot record, social security card and two current dated proofs of your residence must be turned in to Phyllis Martin in building #1 registration office by March 15, 2013 to be eligible for the lottery drawing.

BPS Registration
Registration for 4-year-old Pre-K and 5K at Barnwell Primary School will be held the following dates from 8 to 11 a.m. in building 1: Jan. 15-18 for 4 Pre-K; Feb. 12-15 for 4 Pre-K; Feb. 20-22 for 4 Pre-K & 5 K; March 26-29 for 4 Pre-K & 5 K; and April 24-26 for 4 Pre-K & 5K. Children must be four or five years old on or before Sept. 1, 2013.
The following records are required for registration: S.C. Shot Record (long white form from your doctor or the health dept.); Certified Birth Certificate; Child's Social Security Card; two current dated proofs of residence in parent's name and address; and a $15 material fee due at registration (5K only)

Angel Tree: Through Jan. 3 
With a $20 donation, patrons may choose a title from the Angel Tree and designate a bookplate in honor or in memory of a loved one. Choose from a variety of picture books for preschoolers, juvenile fiction and non-fiction for children of elementary age, and fiction for teens. The Angel Tree program can provide a wealth of much-needed children's materials to supplement the library's collection. Be an angel and donate a children's book this year to support your library.
Friday Flicks: Fridays at 3:30 p.m.
Family-friendly movies with free popcorn and a drink!
Reading to Rover: Tuesdays from 3:40-5 p.m.
Struggling readers in grades K-5 can sign up for a weekly 20-minute session to read to Tess, a trained therapy dog who loves to listen to stories. To sign up, stop by the library or call 259-3612.
Preschool to 2nd Grade Storytime: Thursdays at 11 a.m. (resumes Jan. 17)

Outreach Story Time
Can't make it to our regular story time? We can bring the magic of reading to your daycare or classroom with stories, songs, puppets and more!

Barnwell Museum
There will be a meet and greet with the December Artists of the Month, sisters Sandra Wizorek and Christina Wizorek Bailey, from 3-5 p.m. Jan. 20.
