Iconic people created paths

The month of February is filled with things to do and things to celebrate.
First, it is Black History Month. Each week, the staff of The People-Sentinel, along with our advertising sponsors, will bring you profiles on iconic people who have paved paths for the generations to follow.
Our national profile this week is on Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Dr. King made choices while he was a young man to become educated, through college as well as the seminary. He advocated for equal rights with a gentle hand and left a legacy for others to follow.
Each week we will also bring you profiles on local individuals who are making a difference in our own community each and every day. These will be your neighbors, friends and family.
This week, Rev. Herman Wallace is featured as our local profile.
Rev. Wallace was a teacher and principal in the Barnwell 45 school system for many years and he is also the pastor at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Blackville.
We hope you find inspiration in these profiles. Inspiration to step in and do more in the community, to become involved in the schools and to promote the peace and equality Dr. King and Rev. Wallace stand for.
If you know of someone making a difference in our community, please let us know.
