An Allendale couple is facing assault charges after a Feb. 24 incident at a club in Kline.
Robin Benjamin, 46, and Sammie Lee Chisolm, 52, both of 744 Patterson St., Allendale, are charged with assault and battery after assaulting an employee at the R&B Social Club in Kline, according to their arrest reports.
The female victim told deputies the assault occurred after the couple argued with her over a $2 reentry fee. "The couple started using profanity and indicated that they (were) not going to pay nothing at all," states the incident report from the Barnwell County Sheriff's Office.
Benjamin then "became very hostile and struck" the victim, who the report states was also struck by Chisolm.
A male employee came to his co-worker's aid by getting Benjamin off her. Chisolm then tried to start a fight with the male employee, who used mace "to stop the threat," according to the report.
After Chisolm threatened to get a gun from his car to kill the male employee, the male employee sprayed him with mace and detained him until deputies arrived.
Benjamin and Chisolm were released to the Barnwell County Detention Center.
