A 5K race will be held this Saturday to raise funds for local housing renovations.
The Blackville Community Development Corporation will host their Biannual Charity 5K Walk on Saturday, March 23, from 8:30 to 10 a.m. at the Crystal Jenkins Memorial Track (behind Macedonia Elementary).
"We'd like for everybody to come and support it," said Evelyn Coker with the Blackville CDC, which "will better people's lives."
Funds raised will benefit the CDC Partners for Progress program which helps the community, including emergency repairs to houses and rehabilitation projects. They recently sponsored a group of Boston College students who spent their spring break in Blackville working at houses and painting fire hydrants.
The entry fee is $10, while a T-shirt is an additional $10.
Preregister through March 22 by calling the CDC at (803) 284-0735 and leaving a message. Onsite registration will also take place the morning of the race at 8 a.m.
