Corine Brown Ward

Corine Brown Ward, 82, died Jan. 22, 2009 at her residence.
Funeral service was held Jan. 28 at Shrub Branch Missionary Baptist Church, Blackville, with the Revs. McKinley Neal and Floyd Hughes and Ministers, Gwen Neal and Johnell Copeland officiating. Green's Funeral Home of Blackville was in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Ward, affectionately known as "Mama Co", was born June 13, 1926 in Blackville. She was the daughter of the late Cleo and Annie Bell Bellinger Brown. She was the granddaughter of the late Perry and Lizzie Bellinger. She was a member of Shrub Branch Missionary Baptist Church. She was also the mother of the church. She retired from Blackville Middle School as a cook in the cafeteria. She was predeceased by her husband, Melvin Ward; one daughter, Marcia Ward Jamison and one great-grandson, Travis Brown.
Survivors include five children, James (Callie) Ward, Cathy McCrea, Letha Johnson, Mary Donaldson, all of Blackville and Evelyn (Louis) Jamison of Denmark; one brother, Levi Bellinger of New York; one sister, Lessie Mae Johnson; one nephew; an adopted daughter, Ella Bell Daniels of Blackville; an adopted son and daughter, Isreal and Mona Harley of Far Rockaway, N. Y.; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and adopted grandchildren.
