Jack Ray

Jack Ray, 78, of Orangeburg, died Jan. 31, 2009 at the Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg.

Funeral service was held Feb. 3 at Amazing Grace Pentecostal Holiness Church, Orangeburg with the Revs. Dale Phillips and Steve Rucker officiating. Burial was in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Orangeburg. Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. of Orangeburg was in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Ray was born Dec. 12, 1930 in Union. He was the son of the late Charlie and Mollie Rice Ray. He was a member of Amazing Grace Pentecostal Holiness Church where he served as a deacon. He retired from Carter's Wholesale Meats.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Flowers Ray of the home; three daughters, Phyllis (Melvin) Ball, JoAnn Etheridge and Molly (Roger) Shaw Sr., all of Elloree; three stepchildren, Darrell Bennett of Olar, David Bennett of Norway and Lucinda Still of Barnwell; two brothers, Randy Ray and Charles Ray, both of Lakeland, Fla.; one sister, Rosie Powers of Texas; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and five step grandchildren.
