David Carter - Barnwell
Our dearly beloved David Carter left this earthly domain on June 16, 2017.
The loss of this beautiful spirit will leave a tremendous void in the lives of all those that knew and loved him. David was a jovial, loving, energetic, comedic and entertaining spirit. His laughter was contagious. His genuine love for family was a trait that all admired.
David Carter was born to Deacon Stephen M. and Mrs. Carrietta W. Carter on July 9, 1935. He was the 4th oldest of their 12 children.
David’s upbringing included a religious home where the word of God and the importance of family were consistently instilled in his everyday life. At an early age he united with the St. John Baptist church where he served faithfully until he moved away. He attended St. John Grammar School and graduated from Butler High School as a member of the Class of 1955. He was a proud member of the Butler High School Yellow Jackets basketball team.
After graduation, David relocated to New York and was employed by the NYT for a period of time. Later he was employed by the United States Postal Service as a postal police officer until his retirement.
In 1978, he married the former Eleanor Jo Boone and they were blessed with four beautiful children. He continued his Christian journey by uniting with the Cornerstone Baptist Church.
Upon his return to South Carolina, he reunited with the St. John Baptist Church.
His memory shall live on through his children, grandchildren and other beloved family. David was predeceased by his wife, the late Eleanor Jo Boone Carter; three brothers, Wilson Carter, Linward Carter & Mckinley Carter.
