Robert Lee Odom - Barnwell
Mr. Robert Lee Odom, son of the late Leroy Odom Sr. and Mrs. Clara Wiggins Odom, was born on December 29, 1937 in Barnwell County. He entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, July 4, 2017 at his residence in Barnwell.
Robert Lee attended Diamond Dale and Barnwell Public Schools. At an early age, he joined the New Home Baptist Church of the Red Oak Community.
He was employed by Milliken & Company and Barnwell School District 45 where he served as a custodian. While residing in Cocoa Beach and Belle Glade, Fla., he operated Heavy Equipment Machinery.
Prior to Robert’s failing health, he enjoyed playing his guitar and singing gospel songs for many years.
Robert also enjoyed praising the Lord and he always gave God “thanks” for everything. He will be greatly missed by his family and many sorrowing friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Leroy Sr. and Mrs. Clara Wiggins Odom; four brothers, Leroy Odom Jr., John Lee Odom, Willie Gene Odom and Donald Odom; one sister, Virgie Mae Barber.
He leaves to cherish his memories: three sisters, Pearl McCutcheon and Bobby A. Rice, both of Barnwell, and Annie M. Blackwell of Philadelphia, Penn.; four sisters-in-law, Minnie L. Odom and Rose J. Odom, both of Barnwell, Mary J. Odom of Pahokee, Fla. and Thelma J. Odom of Philadelphia, Penn.; as well as nine nieces, six nephews, and a host of other relatives and sorrowing friends.
A homegoing service was held on Sunday, July 9, 2017 at 2:30 p.m. at New Home Baptist Church in Barnwell with Rev. Harris T. Barker presiding. Interment followed at New Home Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Barnwell.
Lebby Funeral Home of Barnwell was in charge of arrangements.
