Iris L. Hayes-Graham (Barnwell)
Mrs. Iris Lennette Hayes-Graham, age 59, was born on March 28, 1958, in Barnwell County to the late Thomas Frederick Sr. and the late Francis L. Hayes-Frederick, but was reared in the home by her grandparents, the late Curtis and Helen Hayes.
Seeking God’s direction and guidance, at an early age, she joined the Galilee Baptist Church in Appleton and later moved her membership to the Second Mount Olive Baptist Church in Barnwell where she served faithfully. She was a member of the SBS Society, OES, and Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority. She also served in the S.C. State Guard, where she held the rank of Warrant Officer.
She received her education at the Barnwell High School in Barnwell and later furthered her education at Barber-Scotia College in North Carolina where she received her Bachelor’s degree. Hearing the call of God, she continued her education at the Carolina Theological Institute in Allendale where she earned her Master’s degree. She worked as an Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor at the New Life Center in Allendale.
Iris will be remembered for the love she had for her family and friends, and she will be missed by all those who knew and loved her. She was married to her loving husband, Ollie L. Graham, for three years.
Besides her parents and grandparents, she is preceded in death by one sister, Connie R. Hayes; two brothers, Christopher D. Brown and Bobby Walker; one uncle, Curtis Hayes Jr.; and one great granduncle, Eugene Hayes.
Our Heavenly Father called her from labor to reward on August 11, 2017, at the Aiken Regional Medical Center in Aiken.

(Leroy) Ballard of Dumfries, Va., and Teresa Foust of Ulmer; two godchildren, Lakeisha Pettway and Amyiah Pettway of Barnwell; three sisters-in-law, Martha (George) Owens and Mary (Joe) Harris of Allendale, and Daisy Mae (Kerrington) Adams of Portland, OR; three brothers-in-law, Hershey (Annie) Graham, Holman (Mary) Graham Jr., and Warren Graham, all of Allendale; six aunts, Vernell (Willie) Barber of Orlando, Fla., Evelyn Hayes of Jacksonville, Fla., Essie Mae (Willie) Mitchell of Trenton, N.J., Edna (Willie) Woodburg Valerie Frederick of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Kathleen (Charlie, Sr.) Jenkins of Greensboro, N.C.; one great-grandaunt,
Juanita Hayes of Augusta, Ga.; niece and nephew reared in the home as her children, Daniella L. (Dwaine) Hayes-Singleton of Barnwell and Laurence P. Jones of Charleston AFB; one loving pet dog, Fred; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and sympathizing friends.
A Celebration of Life Service was held on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at noon at Rosemary Baptist Church in Barnwell with Rev. Isaiah Bussey serving as eulogist.
B.F. Cave Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
