Kenneth Oestricher (Barnwell)
Mr. Kenneth Oestricher, aka “Brother.” age 84, was born on February 14, 1933, in Allendale County, South Carolina to the late Joe and Lena Oestricher.
At an early age, he sought God’s direction and guidance, and joined the Mt. Sinai Baptist Church in Martin where he served as a faithful member until his health declined.
He was educated at Jackwood Public School in Allendale County, and worked in construction for many years.
“Brother”, as he was affectionately known, will be remembered for the love he had for his family and friends, and he will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.
He was married to the late Johnnie Bell Oestricher, and in this union, they were blessed with two children.
Besides his parents and grandparents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Johnnie Bell Oestricher, one grandson, Antonio Johnson, Jr., and three brothers, Robert, Herbert, and Bernard Oestricher.
Our Heavenly Father called him home on Monday, August 4, 2017, at his home in Barnwell.
He leaves to cherish his memory, one daughter, Bertina “Tina” Oestricher of Barnwell; one son, Kenneth “ATL” Oestricher Jr. of Barnwell; three great grandchildren, Ariana Letina Johnson, Tatyana Jakala Bell Johnson, and Dashawn Smith of Atlanta, Ga.; three sisters, Mildred Rhodes of New York, N.Y., Mary Owens of New Jersey, and Sandra Whitfield of Virginia; two brothers, Douglas and Sydney Oestricher of New York; one sister-in-law, Lizzie Mae Oestricher of Martin; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, loving relatives and sympathizing friends.
The funeral service was 3:30 p.m., Friday, August 11, 2017, at the Mt. Sinai Baptist Church in Martin with words of comfort by Pastor Hayward Dock. The burial followed in the church cemetery.
