Lucious Williams Jr. (Barnwell)

Mr. Lucious Williams Jr., aka “Luke”, age 69, was born on March 15, 1948, in Barnwell to the late Lucious Williams Sr. and the late Queen Esther Williams.

Seeking God’s direction and guidance, at an early age, he joined the Bethlehem Baptist Church in Barnwell. He received his education at the Butler High School in Barnwell, and worked at Milliken Textile as an Inspector for 40 years before retiring. He loved sports and was one of the players on the 1966 Football Team when they won the State Championship.

“Luke”, as he was affectionately known, will be remembered for the love he had for his family and friends, and he will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.

He was married to Georgia J. Williams for 47 years.

Besides his parents and grandparents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Edward, and Freddie Williams; and two sisters, Annie Mae Owens and Bernice Williams.

Our Heavenly Father called him from labor to reward on August 6, 2017, at his home in Barnwell.

He leaves to cherish his beautiful memory, a loving wife, Georgia J. Williams of Allendale; four sons, Lucius T. Williams of Allendale, Antonio L. Creech of Barnwell, and Eric Hancock of St. Augustine, Fla.; one daughter, Romoneca S. Creech of Barnwell; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three step grandchildren; one brother, Charles (Joann) Williams of Barnwell; two sisters, Joan (Ivan) Cohen of Barnwell and Bessi Williams of New York, N.Y.; one sister-in-law, Betty Williams of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; one brother-in-law, Deacon Thomas Owens of Barnwell; two special nephews reared in the home, Zachary Williams of Seattle, WA, and Logan Williams of Barnwell; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and sympathizing friends.

The funeral service was 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 11, 2017, at the Bethlehem Baptist Church in Barnwell with words of comfort by Rev. Sanka Davis. The burial followed in the Hope Memorial Park in Barnwell.
