Russell L. Garrett (Barnwell)
Mr. Russell L. Garrett, age 67, was born on October 24, 1950 in Dunbarton to the late Bennie Bower and the late Mattie Garrett.
Seeking God’s direction and guidance, at an early age, he joined Ned Branch Baptist Church in Barnwell in 1962 where he served on the Usher Board and as a Trustee.
He received his education at Barnwell High School in Barnwell and worked at Milliken Textile for 10 years. He opened his auto body shop in Barnwell from 1985 to 2005.
Russell will be remembered for the love he had for his family and friends, and he will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.
He was married to the love of his life, Katherine Moore, in 1973, and this union was blessed by God for 44 years.
Besides his parents and grandparents, he is preceded in death by four sisters, Joann Garrett, Elise Highsmith, Olivia Chavos, and Mary Owens; and five brothers, Scott, Hayward, Charlie, Frank, and Marion Garrett.
Our Heavenly Father called him from labor to reward on November 22, 2017 at Aiken Regional Medical Center in Aiken.
He leaves to cherish his beautiful memory, a loving and devoted wife, Katherine Moore Garrett of Barnwell; two sisters, Clarice Roberts of Barnwell and Mellie Bower of Hallandale, Fla.; two brothers, Thomas Garrett and Harvey (Juanita) Garrett of Barnwell; two brothers-in-law, Herman Moore of Denmark and Gary Moore of Savannah, Ga.; one sister-in-law, Loraine Garrett; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and sympathizing friends.
Funeral service was held on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Ned Branch Baptist Church in Barnwell with words of comfort provided by Elder Bobby Dukes. His nephews, church members and friends served as pallbearers while ushers and nieces were the flower attendants. Interment followed at Ned Branch Baptist Church Cemetery.
B.F. Cave Funeral Home in Allendale assisted the family with arrangements.
