Dr. Annette Scott Albert, 83, died June 7, 2009 after an extended illness.
Funeral service was held June 13 at New Beginning United Methodist Church, Neeses. Lebby Funeral Home of Denmark was in charge of the arrangements.
Dr. Albert was born June 19, 1925 in Orangeburg. She was the daughter of the late Asbery and Annie McCreary Scott. She taught at Colleton County Training School, Walterboro, Denmark public school system, reading specialist and adult education at Voorhees College. She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Dr. Rodney G. Albert and a son, Rodney G. Albert II. She was a founder and president of the Denmark chapter of Delta Sigma Theta public-service sorority. She was a member of the American Association of University woman, Girl Scout Troop 100 of the Girl Scouts of America, the National Education Association, a lifetime member of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People and the Bamberg County democratic Party.
Survivors include two daughters, Priscilla Ann Albert and Mildred D. Albert, both of Denmark; three sisters, Vivian Middelton of Atlanta, Ga., Willie Mae Mitchell of Walterboro and Dorothy Buskey of Mobile, Ala.; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
