Billy Gene Creech, 73, of Blackville, died Dec. 23, 2009.
The funeral service was held Dec. 26 at Blackville First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Thomas Terry officiating. Folk Funeral Home of Williston was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Creech was born in Barnwell County. He was the son of the late Ben F. Creech, Sr. and Adelle Still Creech. He retired from Savannah River Site as a safety engineer and an analytical chemical technician. He was a member of Blackville First Baptist Church where he served as chairman of the deacons, church treasurer, former Brotherhood director and was a Sunday school teacher. He was a member of Blackville Civic Group, Barnwell County DSS Board and was treasurer for Friends of the Library. He was preceded in death by brothers, Ben F. Creech, Jr., Ruby Creech and Rev. Jimmy Creech.
Survivors include his wife, Pansy Bruce Creech; one daughter, Carol (Tom) Sanderson of Aiken; one son, Michael (Penny) Creech of Barnwell; five grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Memorials may be sent to Gideon's International, Memorial Bible Chairman P.O. Box 86, Williston, SC, 29853.
