Cheryl Virginia Delk Hartzog, 67, of Hilda, passed away on Friday, January 27, 2012 at Uni-Health Post Acute Care of Barnwell, where she was a resident for 13 years.
Born in Barnwell County on February 14, 1944, she was a daughter of the late Wilbur R. Delk and Bertie Lee Hartzog Delk.  She graduated from Blackville High School and was employed with American Bank and Trust for seven years.  Cheryl was a life-long member of Double Pond Baptist Church, where she founded the church library.  She helped to organize the Hilda Fellowship CB Club and coordinated the Hilda Drama Club. She served as chairperson of the Hilda Community Birthday Calendars and secretary and treasurer of the Hilda Volunteer Fire Department for many years.  Cheryl was an avid animal lover and enjoyed genealogy.
Visitation was held Saturday, Jan. 28, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Mole Funeral Home. Funeral Services were held Jan. 29, at Double Pond Baptist Church, Blackville, with the Reverends Tim Edmonds, Billy Mew, and Donnie Delk officiating. Burial followed at Hilda Southern Methodist Church, Hilda.  
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Double Pond Baptist Church in care of the Cheryl Hartzog Sound System, 357 Double Pond Rd., Blackville, S.C. 29817.  
Survivors include her beloved and devoted husband of fifty years, Daniel Edward Hartzog of Hilda; daughters, Wendy H. (Ski) Hooper of Barnwell and Christina H. (Mark) Odom of Hilda; grandchildren, Wayne (Marie) Hutto, Sarah Hooper and Skyler Hooper, all of Barnwell; brother, William R. (Janet) Delk, of Alpharetta, Ga.; sisters, Bertie D. Hair, of Hilda  and Judy D. (Kenneth) Freeman, of Swansea; sister-in-law, Connie H. (Wilbur) Peterson, of Valdosta, Ga.; brother-in-law, Edgar A. Hartzog, of Hilda; and numerous nieces and nephews; and a dear friend, Sybil H. Horton, of Barnwell.  
She was predeceased by a son, George T. (Terry) Hartzog.
 Mole Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
