Denise Michelle Hicks Johnican, 37,of Barnwell, died Dec. 8, 2009.
Funeral service was held Dec. 12 at Brown Chapel Baptist Church, Barnwell with the Rev. Eugene Keitt Jr. officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Lebby Funeral Home of Barnwell was in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Johnican was born Aug. 31, 1972 in Barnwell County. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nathaniel Hicks Sr. She was a member of Brown Chapel Baptist Church. She was predeceased by a sister, Delores Jones.
Survivors include her husband, Samuel Johnican Sr. of Barnwell; two daughters, Whitney Paula and Ashley Nicole Johnican, both of Barnwell; one son, Samuel Douglas Johnican Jr. of Barnwell; her parents of Barnwell; two sisters, Betty Hicks of Barnwell and Edna (Thomas) Kennedy of Columbia; four brothers, Nathaniel (Carmen) Hicks JR., Walter Hicks, both of Barnwell; Daniel (Phyllis) Hicks of Augusta, Ga. and Donald (Jemelia) Hicks of Boiling Springs; one aunt; two uncles and a great many nieces, nephews, grand nephews, relatives and friends.
