Dorothy Blume Boyles Bates, 79, of Barnwell, died June 24, 2009 at the Barnwell County Hospital.
Funeral service was held June 27 at the Mole Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Joey McDonald officiating. Burial was in the Siloam United Methodist Church Cemetery. Mole Funeral Home of Barnwell was in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Bates was born on March 12, 1930 in Williston. She was the daughter of the late Noel and Louise Laird Blume. She was the wife of Frank "Buster" Bates. She was first married to the late Edward F. Boyles Sr. She was a retired employee of Milliken and Company and was a member of Siloam United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Frank "Buster" Bates of Barnwell; two sons, Edward F. (Janie) Boyles Jr. and Joe Boyles of Barnwell; two daughters, Shirley Boyles (Edward) Ponds and Pat Boyles (Jimmy) Still of Barnwell; two step-daughters, Shirley Bates (Gary) Cook of Barnwell and Peggy Bates (Sandy) Sanders of Greenville N.C.; one sister, Frances Hutto of Augusta Ga.; 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
