Gearl Martin Collins Jr.
Gearl Martin Collins, Jr., 46, died November 23, 2009.
Funeral services were held Nov. 28, 2009 at the chapel of Lord and Stephens, West. Interment was held in Oconee Memorial Park.
A native of Barnwell, he was the son of Gearl Martin Collins, Sr. of Aiken and Shirley Ann Powell Collins of Barnwell.
He was the grandson of the late Azilee and Sammie Collins and the late Verdia Sheets, all of Barnwell.
In 1998, Dr. Collins earned his doctorate of education from the University of Georgia and taught agriculture science education and was the FFA advisor for 20 years at Greene County High School. Dr. Collins was also an Eagle Scout.
Survivors in addition to his parents include his wife, Beth Collins; two children, Sam Collins and Katie Collins, all of Watkinsville; brother, Mitchell (Kirsten) Collins and their son, Mason, all of Aiken.
