Jacqueline "Jackie" Rayner Thomas

Jacqueline "Jackie" Rayner Thomas, 68, of Barnwell, died June 23,2009 at her home after a courageous battle with cancer.
Funeral service was held June 26 in the "Merge" building of the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Posey Belcher officiating. Burial was in the Barnwell Co. Memory Gardens on Reynolds Rd. Mole Funeral Home of Barnwell was in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Thomas was born June 21,1941 in Laurel MS. She was the daughter of Mildred "Bonnie" Skinner Rayner and the late Jack Holloway Rayner. She was married to the late James D. "Don" Thomas, Sr. for 38 years until his death in 2001. She taught high school English in Barnwell for a number of years. In 1995 she received the "Golden Apple "award from WJBF TV in Augusta, Ga. for excellence in teaching. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Barnwell for 35 years.
Survivors include three children, James "Jamey" Donald (Debbie) Thomas Jr. of Fishers, Ind., Kelley Thomas Carroll of Barnwell and Lori Thomas (John) Leonard of Barnwell; her mother of Blackville; one brother, Edwin Jack Rayner of Blackville; her mother-in-law, Sara Griffin Thomas of Ulmer; three sisters in law, Carolyn Thomas England of Chapin, Phyllis Thomas Herring of Bamberg and Camille Griffin Thomas of Barnwell and ten grandchildren.
