Julia Beatrice Weeks Knight, 86, of St. George, died Sept. 25, 2009 at Providence Hospital, Columbia.
Funeral service was held Sept. 27 at Old St. George Baptist Church with the Revs. John O'Cain, Philip Blankenship and Kevin Hinton officiating. Burial was in the St. George Cemetery. Bryant Funeral Home of St. George was in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Knight was born May 1, 1923 in Elloree, raised in Branchville. She was the daughter of the late Richard Wilson and Sarah Hill Weeks. She was the widow of the Rev. Joseph Benson Knight. She was retired from the Charleston Naval Shipyard and was a member of Lighthouse Community Baptist Church. She served as a Sunday school teacher and choir member. She was predeceased by siblings, Ruby W. Perkins, Annie Mae Patrick, Woodrow Wilson Weeks and Thomas Lewis Weeks.
Survivors include one daughter, Dorothy Jeanne Thompson (Billy Gene) Brummett of Barnwell; one sister, Veronica Weeks Smith of North Augusta; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
