Kaye Frances Barfield Odom

Kaye Frances Barfield Odom, 53, of Barnwell, passed away Monday, Jan. 9, 2012.
She began her earthly journey on May 3, 1958 in Barnwell. She was the fifth of seven girls born to Betty L. Miller Barfield and the late Cleveland Barfield.
Funeral services were held at 12 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012, at the St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, where she became a member at an early age. Lebby Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Kaye was educated in the public schools of Barnwell County and graduated from Barnwell High School in 1976. She was an honor student and an outstanding basketball player, MVP of the team.
She will be met at the gates and welcomed by her father, Cleveland Barfield; grandmothers, Julia Miller and Alice Barfield; grandfathers, Sip Miller and Willie Barfield; her sister, Betty L. Edwards; her aunts; uncles; and nephew, Sedrick Hammonds.
Kaye leaves to cherish her memories: two loving and committed daughters, Monica (Kelvin) Stroman of Lexington, S.C., and Courtney D. T. Williams of Barnwell, S.C.; caring mother, Betty L. Barfield of Barnwell, S.C.; devoted fiancé, Martin “Percy” Johnson of Sycamore, S.C.; dedicated sisters, Annie (James) Robinson of Jersey City, N.J., Lottie (William Jr.) Hammonds of Barnwell, S.C., Wilhelmina (Julius) Thompson of Salley, S.C., Cleo Barfield of Barnwell, S.C. and Julia (David) Brown of North Augusta, S.C.; precious grandchildren, Kelvyn, KaShawn and Kelsey Stroman of Lexington, S.C. and Greyson Williams of Barnwell, S.C.; uncle, Ernest Ozell Miller; a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends; a special family friend, Lashaine Moore.        The People-Sentinel 01/11/12
