Mary Gladys Bramlett Folk

Mary Gladys Bramlett Folk, 90, of Williston, died May 22, 2010.
Funeral service was held May 26 at the Folk Funeral Home Chapel, Williston with burial in the Williston cemetery. Folk Funeral Home of Williston was in charge of the arrangements.
 Mrs. Folk was born in Mayesville. She was the daughter of the late Robert James “R.J.” Bramlett and Algie Irene Mathis Outlaw Bramlett. She retired after more than 34 years as a public school teacher, having taught in Walterboro, Springfield, Williston and New Ellenton school districts and served as a counselor at the Barnwell County vocational school. She met and married John William “Billy” Folk, Jr., of Williston in 1945 and managed the bookkeeping for many years at Folk’s Auto in Williston, their Chrysler dealership. She was a member of the Williston Presbyterian Church for more than 60 years, serving as a substitute pianist; teaching Sunday school and acting as treasurer for the Presbyterian Women’s Circle. She was considered the “matriarch” of the church. She was a member of the Barnwell Mental Health Board and a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Folk was preceded in death by sisters, Betty B. Gardner and Georgia O. Irick; brothers, Mendle Outlaw, Roy, Chandler, Willie,  Henry and James Bramlett.
Survivors include her brother-in-law, Cliff Gardner and his five children, their families, as well as, the Norman, Neal, Sim, Tom, Cecil, William and Esther Folk families of Williston.
