Mason Odom

Mason Odom, 66, of Barnwell, died Sept 29, 2009 at the Ascension Hospice House in Columbia.
Funeral service was held Oct. 5 at Hutto Chapel Baptist Church, Hilda, with the Rev. Eddie Williams officiating. Burial was in the Freewill Christian Ministers Cemetery. Lebby Funeral Home of Barnwell was in charge of the arrangements.
Deacon Odom was born Nov. 24, 1942 in Barnwell County. He was the son of the late Calhoun and Lucille Odom. He retired from Westinghouse Savannah River Site, Aiken, after 27 years of service. He was a member of the Barnwell Masonic Lodge No. 180 of Barnwell. He was a member of Hutto Chapel Baptist Church, Hilda, where he served as chairman of deacons, Sunday school superintendent, teacher and trustee. He was predeceased by a sister, Carolyn McLong and a brother, Earnest Odom.
Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Lelia Odom; three sons, Tony Williams of Barnwell, Gus (Gwen) Odom of Savannah, Ga. and Dwayne Odom of Aiken; three daughters, Lily (Johnny) Farr, Catherine Odom and Mary Odom, all of Savannah, Ga.; one stepdaughter, Ruth (Melvin) Wilson; one stepson, Larry (Lynn) Sanders of Savannah, Ga.; three sisters, Melba Jones and Irene Odom, both of Barnwell and Bernice Odom of Detroit, Mich.; two brothers, Roy (Sheila) Odom and Thurmond Odom, both of Detroit, Mich.; 19 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and three god children.
