Raymond Coker
Carlysle Raymond Coker Jr., 68, of Denmark, died Aug. 9, 2010 in the Lexington Medical Center.
Funeral service was held Aug. 11 at the First Baptist Church of Denmark with the Rev. Andy Hunter officiating. Burial was in the Clarendon Memorial Park in Manning. Mercer Funeral Home of Denmark was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Coker was born April 18, 1942 in Turbeville. He was the son of Edith Driggers Coker and the late Carlysle Raymond Coker Sr. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Denmark, and was a member of the Denmark Masonic Lodge No. 246 AFM. He was owner and operator of Piggly Wiggly grocery stores. He was predeceased by a sister, Roe Marie Tomlinson.
Survivors include his wife, Patsy Spigner Coker of Denmark; two sons, Carlysle Raymond “Bubba” (Karin) Coker III of Denmark and Wilson Todd (Michelle) Coker of Columbia; one daughter, Frances Teresa “Teri” (Robbie) Huber of Denmark; his mother of Manning; three brothers, Jerry Coker and Rick Coker of Manning and Glenn Coker of Goose Creek; three sisters, Brenda Coker, Lois Ann Coker and Mary Hinson of Manning and six grandchildren.

Carole Grubbs Pooser
Carole Grubbs Pooser, 65, of Norcross, Ga., died Aug. 13, 2010. 
Funeral service was held Aug. 16 at Peachtree Corners Associated Reformed Presbyterian Church.  Burial was at Prosperity Cemetery in Chamblee. Crowell Brothers Peachtree Chapel Funeral Home of Norcross, Ga. was in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Pooser was born Sept. 6, 1944 in Denmark. She was the eldest child of Otto Wallace Grubbs and Ida Mae Hartzog Grubbs. She married William E. Pooser on June 24, 1966. With the birth of her sons, she was a homemaker for many years but returned to teaching, retiring from B.B. Harris Elementary School in Duluth in 2000 after 10 years of service. 
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Patrick C. Pooser (Amanda) of Marietta and W. Christopher Pooser of Boise, ID (Stephanie Wicks); one brother, Roby Wallace (R.W.) Grubbs (Karen) of Clearwater, Fla.; one sister, Diane Grubbs (Ellis) Gammons of Gaston; one sister-in-law, Cindy (Larry) Schatz of Pasco, Wash. and three grandchildren.

Richard L. Gantt, Jr.
Richard L. Gantt, Jr., 87, of the Boiling Springs Community died Augusta 15, 2010 at the Barnwell County Hospital.
Funeral services were held today, Aug. 18 at the Mole Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in the Boiling Springs Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
Mr. Gantt was born Aug. 19, 1922 in Barnwell County. He was the son of the late Richard L. Gantt, Sr. and Hope McGill Gantt. He was a retired employee of the National Fastener Co. and a member of the Boiling Springs Presbyterian Church. He was predeceased by brothers, Thomas and Joe Gantt and sisters, Frances Martin, Marie Fowke and Katheryn Arbogast.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Harley Gantt; two daughters, Ellen (Jose) Flores and Frances Gantt; one brother, Fuller Gantt and three grandchildren.

John Carlos Pena
John Carlos Pena, 26, died Tuesday, Aug.10, 2010 in Barnwell County Hospital.
Pena  was a native of Ulmer and a son of Jeronimo Pena and Diane Burke. He had attended Barnwell Schools, the Job Corp. in Kentucky and was a student at Denmark Technical College. He enjoyed playing sports and loved his family dearly.
Graveside Funeral Services were  Saturday, Aug. 14, 2010 at Swallow Savannah Cemetery with the Reverend Barney Tuten officiating.
Survivors include his father, Jeronimo Pena (Alma) of Ulmer; his mother, Diane Burke of Williston; his long time girlfriend Tera Jimnez of Barnwell, two brothers, Mathew and Ben Pena both of Ulmer, three sisters, Diana Pena of Hampton, Erica Gimenez and Anna Gimenez both of Greensboro, N.C., and several nieces and nephews.
Keith Smith Funeral Service, Allendale, was in charge of the arrangements.
