Pansy Creech
Pansy Ann Bruce Creech, 74, of Blackville, died July 19, 2010.
Funeral service was held July 23 at First Baptist Church in Blackville with the Rev. Dr. Thomas Terry officiating. Folk Funeral Home of Williston was in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Creech was born in Vivian, La. She was the daughter of the late Dalton D. Bruce and Golda Irene Cantrell Bruce. She was married to the late Billy Gene Creech for 53 years. She retired from the Blackville public school district. She was a Blackville Garden Club member and a member of Blackville First Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Carol (Tom) Sanderson; one son, Michael (Penny) Creech; one brother, Ronald Alan Bruce and five grandchildren.

Ronald Dean Morris Sr.
Ronald Dean Morris Sr., 77, of Olar, died July 21, 2010 at Laurel Baye Healthcare.
Graveside services was held July 24 at the First Baptist Church of Olar cemetery with the Revs. Thomas Terry and Wayne Lovett officiating. Mole Funeral Home of Barnwell was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Morris was born Sept. 19, 1932 in Olar. He was the son of the late Grover Cleveland and Anna McCormack Morris. He was a farmer and member of the First Baptist Church of Olar, Woodmen of the World and the Olar Volunteer Fire Department. He was a former part-time employee for the town of Olar. He was predeceased by a son, Ronald Dean (Bubba) Morris Jr., brothers, Wyman Morris of Sycamore, Tommy Morris of Olar, sisters, Sarah M. Howard of Pinewood N.C., Carrie M. Gulledge of Sumter and Victoria M. Wilson of Raleigh N.C. 
Survivors include one daughter, Cindy M. (Wayne) Sexton of Goose Creek; one brother, E.W. (Joyce) Morris of Jackson; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Betty Jane Driggers Rudd
Mrs. Betty Jane Driggers Rudd, 75, died July 21, 2010 at the Aiken Regional Medical Center.
Graveside service was held July 23 at Crestlawn cemetery in Orangeburg with the Rev. Benny E. Burton officiated. Mole Funeral Home of Barnwell was in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Rudd was born Aug. 25, 1934 in Orangeburg. She was the daughter of the late Leon and Rena Bunch Driggers. She was a member of the Church of God.  She assisted her husband, the Rev. Herbert Rudd with many churches in South Carolina
Survivors include her husband of 61 years, the Rev. Hubert Lee Rudd of Barnwell; one daughter, Angie (Terry) Mise of Barnwell; one son, Mark A. (Tammy) Rudd of Aiken; one brother, Charlie “Sonny” Driggers of Simpsonville; one sister, Margaret D. Bozard of Orangeburg; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Church of God Home for Children, P.O. Box 430, Mauldin, S.C. 29662.

Eric Dale Phillips
Eric Dale Phillips, 21 of Barnwell, died July 21, 2010.
Funeral service was held July 25, 2010 at the Mole Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Barnwell Co. Memorial Cemetery at the airport. Mole Funeral Home of Barnwell was in charge of the arrangements. 
He was preceded in death by his uncle, Johnny Hanniford.
Survivors include his father, Larry Ansley Phillips, Jr.; mother, Ingried Hanniford Phillips; children, Owen Michael and Shawn Cole Phillips; two brothers, Larry Chad and John Mitchell Phillips; grandparents, John H. Hanniford III, Carolyn Reynolds, Debbie Johnson, Larry Ansley Phillips, Sr.; uncles, Danny Phillips, Hank Hanniford; aunt, Tonya Vincent; cousins, Sandra Morris, Rachal, Ethan, and Taylor Hanniford, Zackery Phillips, Morgan, Justin, and Christopher Vincent, Kevin Sikes; and many other family members and loving friends.
Memorials maybe made for his two sons, Owen Michael and Shawn Cole Phillips at Enterprise Bank of Barnwell, SC

Carol L. Cable Caron
Carol L. Cable Caron, 77, of Barnwell, died July 14, 2010.
Memorial services was held July 16, 2010 at Siloam United Methodist Church in Barnwell, with the Rev. Michael Hood officiating. Dyches Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.  
Mrs. Caron was born Oct. 9, 1932 in Norwalk, Conn. She was the daughter of the late Harvey M. Cable and Dorothy E. Mourison Cable and step-father, Sherman E. Davis. She was the widow of Raymond M. Caron. She held teaching positions in Durham, N.H., Nashua, N.H. and Buxton, Maine. After her retirement, she spent winters in South Carolina with her husband, Raymond Caron.  In 1994, they became permanent residents in Barnwell. She was an active member of the Siloam United Methodist Church in Barnwell.  
Mrs. Caron was the mother to Michele, Danielle and Virginia; mother-in-law to Peter Bennett and Richard Vigne and had three grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted at Siloam United Methodist Church in Carol Caron’s name, S.C. 3 South, Barnwell, S.C. 29812.

Peggy Hood
Peggy Hood, 89, of Barnwell, died July 18, 2010 at the Barnwell County Nursing Home.
Funeral service was held July 20 at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Lee Clamp officiating. Burial was in the Barnwell Memory Gardens on Reynolds Road, Barnwell. Dyches Funeral Home and Crematory of Barnwell was in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Hood was employed for 30 years at Columbia Christian School Kindergarten. She was a member of Long Branch Baptist Church, Dalzell, which her father, Henry Benenhaley founded. She was predeceased by her husband, Woodrow Hood; one son, Wilson Hood; two brothers and five sisters.
Survivors include one daughter, Beverly Hood (Charles) Dixon of Barnwell; six sisters, Gertrude Benenhaley, Connie Buckner, Lois (John) Cook, Alice (Ben) Chase, John Mark (Bobbie) Benenhaley and Ann (Ray) Shoemaker; four grandchildren Robin Hood, Kristie McWhorter, Matt Anderson and Whitney McLuen and four great-grandchildren.

Mattie Lou Drayton
Mattie Lou Drayton, 83, of Denmark, died July 21, 2010 at the Regional Medical Center, Orangeburg.
Funeral service was held July 24 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Lees with the Revs. Willie Williams, Freddie Wright, Dr. Shirley Miller, Dr. Kim C. Anderson and Clary Green officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Dash’s Funeral Home of Blackville was in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Drayton was born Sept. 16, 1926 in Blackville. She was the daughter of the late Artie and Beatrice Reed Brown. She resided in North Carolina and New York where she assumed positions in management, housekeeping, manufacturing and care giving. In 1985, she temporarily relocated to Denmark to care for her mother. She was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Lees. Her church memberships included the missionary society and the gospel choir. She was predeceased by her parents; former husbands, James Anderson and Richard Drayton Sr. and a step son, Kenneth Anderson.
Survivors include two daughters, Janie Cooper of Orangeburg and Betty (Rev. Willie) Williams of Denmark; two sons,  Richard Drayton II of St. Matthews and Douglas Drayton of Spartanburg; one stepson, the Rev. Dr. Kim (Quida) Anderson of Jacksonville, Fla.; one step daughter-in-law, Jolita Anderson of Jacksonville, Fla.; special cousin, Lou Ella Donaldson of Blackville; special friends, Mary and James Covington of Southern Pines, N. C.; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; six step grandchildren; six step great-grandchildren and a host of relatives.

Johnny Lee Holcomb
Johnny Lee Holcomb, 69, died July 10, 2010.
Funeral service was held July 13 at Holy Apostles Episcopal Church in Barnwell with burial in the Barnwell County Memory Gardens.
Mr. Holcomb was born Dec. 10, 1940 in Gainesville, Ga. He was the son of the late Claud William and Montine Martin Holcomb. He was a retired construction foreman at the Savannah River Site and an independent construction contractor at Dayco. He was a member of Harmony Masonic Lodge #17, Harmony Hope chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, Jamil Shrine Temple, in the Scottish and York Rites. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Janice S. Holcomb; a grandson, Kyle Holcomb; one brother, Waites Holcomb and one sister, Irene Martin.
Survivors include one daughter, Teresa (Alan) Johns of Allendale; two sons, Kenneth (Karey) Holcomb of Madison, Ala. and David (Traci) Holcomb of Pelion; two brothers, Walter (Jackie) Holcomb of Gainesville, Ga. and Cecil (Joyce) Holcomb of Barnwell; one sister, Ernestine (Jim) Dale of Gainesville Ga.; a special friend, Jane Embler of Sumter; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Cheryl Dyches Hasley
Cheryl Dyches Hasley, 47, of Windsor, died July 17, 2010 at her residence.
Funeral service was held July 20 at the First Baptist Church of Windsor with burial in the church cemetery. Dyches Funeral Home and Crematory of Barnwell was in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Hasley was the daughter of Linda B. Dyches and the late Cecil Dyches.
Survivors include her husband of 19 years, Gary; one daughter, Kalia; one son, Jason; one sister, Cindi Dyches of Windsor; one brother, Randy (Jenefier) Dyches of Millbrook, Ala.; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jay and Shirley Hasley of Graniteville.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Windosr.
