Pat Kirkland, 60, of Blackville, died Oct. 3, 2009 at the Barnwell County Hospital.
Funeral service was held Oct. 8 at the Blackville-Hilda High School auditorium, Blackville, with the Rev. Joseph Williams and Ministers Anthony Corley and Joe Jackson and Elder John Corley officiating. Burial was in the Hope Memorial Park Cemetery, Barnwell. Dash's Funeral Home of Blackville was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Kirkland was born March 13, 1949 in Barnwell County. He was the son of the late Geraldine Corley Kirkland. He was employed with the Barnwell County School District No. 19 for a period of 25 years. He was predeceased by four siblings, Mary Etta Reed, Eugene Kirkland, Mike Kirkland and Lillie Corley Hill.
Survivors include two daughters, Amanda and Brittany Curtis; one sister, Elmina Corley of Blackville; two brothers, Joe Morris Kirkland of Columbia and Charles Bosier of Blackville; one sister-in-law, Elois Kirkland of Blackville; a special friend, Norma Curtis; three grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
