Verna Narcissa Bonds Platt, died Oct. 5, 2009.
Funeral service was held Oct. 8 at First Baptist Church of Govan with the Rev. Gene Long and Dr. John V. Platt officiating. Mercer Funeral Home of Denmark was in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Platt was born Oct. 29, 1916 in Hilda. She was the daughter of Anion Joe Bonds and Addie Grubbs Still Bonds. She worked in her brother's general store. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Govan where she was active in Sunday school, VBS, WMU and other mission's initiatives. She was predeceased by her husband of 67 years, John Earl Platt. She was predeceased by brothers, LeRoy Still and Ansel Still and sisters, Alma S. Collins, Felma S. Williams and Joanne B. Weeks.
Survivors include four sons, John V. (Barbara) Platt of Columbia, Bill W. (Leila) Platt of Olar, J. Glen (Angela) Platt of Moore, F. Randall (Gypsy) Platt of Denmark; one daughter, Janis P. (Harry) Ray of Olar; two sisters, Addie Evelyn B. (Ralph) Moody and Mary Elizabeth B. Rowell; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
