William C. Simmons

William C. Simmons of Union, 85, died on his birthday, Jan. 31, 2012
Born in Pickens County, he was the son of the late Furman O. and Clara Trotter Simmons. He is survived by his wife of sixty two years, Hellen Simmons, and four daughters, Donna Freeman of Pisgah Forest, N.C., Claire Rehkopf of Mt. Ulla, N.C., Mary Kasunick, of Marietta, S.C. and Beth McAbee of Mt. Pleasant, S.C. and two granddaughters, Taylor and Lucy Busbin also of Mt. Pleasant. William is also survived by four siblings, Margaret Holder, Carol Plumblee, Jean Cox and Hal Simmons all of Greenville County. He was predeceased by three other siblings of Greenville.
W.C. retired in 1990 from Milliken after a 32 year career. He was a member of Mon Aetna Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School personnel for many years. W.C. was also a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII and served his country with great pride.
W.C. was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed gardening as well. William was a beloved husband and father and leaves a legacy of great faith in God and love for his family to all who knew him.
A celebration of life service was be held 2 p.m., Thursday, February 2, 2012 at Mon-Aetna Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Benny Green.
The family received friends prior to the service from 1 until 2 p.m. at the church.

The family wasbe at their respective home.
The S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home, Inc. was in charge of the arrangements.
