Mrs. Carolyn Cooper Dodson, 76, passed away to her new life on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at her home in Wagener.
Mary Mauldin Griner, 85, of Barnwell, the wife of the late Benjamin Charlton Griner Sr., passed away on March 24, 2017 in the Palmetto Health Heart Hospital, Columbia.
Funeral services for Mr. Carl Allen, 67, of Rincon, Ga., formerly of Martin, were held 1 p.m. Saturday, March 25, 2017 at Allendale Community Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Wendell Johnson officiating. Burial followed in St. Mary Baptist Church Cemetery.
Benjamin Franklin (Ben) Johnson Sr., 78, of Snelling, went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at University Hospital.
Ben was born in Hampton County on June 21, 1938 and was a son of the late Geddis and Ellen Keefe Johnson. He was a retired E&I mechanic with the Savannah River Site, a member of Calvary Baptist Church and an avid fisherman. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be missed by his family and friends.
Funeral services for Barbara Ann Brown Croft, 64, of Blackville, will be held 3 p.m., Friday, March 24, 2017 in the Folk Funeral Home Chapel, Williston, with the Reverends Timmy Gunnells and Kenneth Dodson officiating. Burial will be in the Siloam United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday at Folk Funeral Home, Williston.

Mr. Teddy Johnson of Barnwell County passed away on March 5, 2017 at the age of 73. He was born on July 16, 1943 to the late Ethel Saxon and Eugene Johnson.
He attended school in Barnwell. He worked most of his life as a construction worker. He was married to Rutha Mae Jefferson.
Two brothers preceded him in death, Terry Johnson and Mike Jenkins Jr.
Mr. Mike Jenkins Jr. was born to the late Ethel S. Jenkins and the late Mike Jenkins Sr. on December 1, 1948 in Barnwell County. On Friday, March 3, 2017, he departed this life at his home following an extended illness.
At an early age, he joined Hutto Chapel Baptist Church in Hilda. He attended Macedonia Schools of Blackville. He also attended Denmark Technical College where he studied to become an electrician.
In July 1968, he was united in holy matrimony to Elizabeth Dyches of Denmark. To this union three sons were born.
Mrs. Jeanette Hamilton, age 62, of Barnwell, was born on July 17, 1954, to Henry Priester and the late Gladys Hay Dunbar.
Seeking God’s direction and guidance she joined the Union United Methodist Church in Kline.
Jeanette received her education at the Butler School in Barnwell. She worked at Shuron Textron for five years, and Hardee’s in Barnwell for eight years.
Ms. Ruth Mae Mayes, aka “Mae”, age 58 of Barnwell, was born on October 22, 1958, to the late Lucious Johnson and the late Annette Lee Johnson.
Seeking God’s direction and guidance she joined the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Blackville.
Ruth Mae received her education at the Macedonia School in Blackville.
“Mae”, as she was affectionately known, was a loving and kind person and will be remembered for the love she had for her family, and friends.
A Memorial Service for Laura “Laurie” Lianne Kuglar, 53, of Denmark, will be held 3 p.m., Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, Barnwell with the Reverends Mark Epperson and Andy Hunter officiating. The family will receive friends after the service at the home of her daughter, Katie.
Laurie passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2017.
Evander McTeer “Van” Cooper Sr., 82, of Barnwell, passed away on Friday, March 17, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family.
Mr. James Myers, aka “Cheese” & “Buddy”, age 65, was born on April 4, 1951, in Philadelphia, PA to the late Henry Hamilton and the late Jessie Cave Hamilton.
Mr. James Barker Jr., aka Manny Boy, age 62, was born on July 2, 1954 in Barnwell to the late James Barker Sr. and the late late Gladys Patterson Barker.
Ms. Perry Lee Moore Harden was born on February 16, 1944, in Allendale, to the late Mr. Harry Lee Moore Sr. and Mrs. May Francis Allen Moore.
She departed this life on March 2, 2017, at her home.
At an early age, she joined Treemount Temple Baptist Church in Savannah, Ga. She graduated from Beach High School in Savannah, Ga. She was married to the late Izell Harden for 52 years, and from this union, five children were born.
Ava Nicole Fields was born on January 4, 2017 in Aiken to Ariel Love and De’Angelio Fields. On Friday, March 3, 2017 at 10:06 a.m., God in his infinite wisdom dispatched an Angel to the home in Barnwell to escort the spirit of Ava Nicole Fields, age 1 month, 29 days, back home.
Homegoing services in loving memory of Ava were held on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at 1 p.m. at New Testament Baptist Church in Barnwell. Interment followed at Barnwell Memorial Garden.
Ms. Aubreyanna Denae Crawford, aka “Yanna” age 23, was born on January 14, 1994, in Orangeburg, to Lossie M. Crawford and Honali Adrian Hayes.
Seeking God’s direction and guidance she attended the Rosemary Baptist Church in Barnwell along with her mother.
Aubreyanna received her education in the public school system of Barnwell. She graduated in 2013 and was furthering her education by attending the Wake Community College in Raleigh, N.C. She worked in customer service at Walgreens in Raleigh, N.C.
Irma Ojasson Lyly, 91, passed away Saturday, March 11, 2017 at her home in Allendale.
Irma was born June 27, 1925 in Marjamaa, Estonia to Albert and Irma Grunberg Ojasson. She was married to the late Lawrence Lyly for 55 years. She was a retired engineering technician.
H. Pat Chappell passed away on Saturday, March 11, 2017 in the Aiken Regional Medical Center.
Homegoing services for Mr. Marion Felder were held Friday, March 3, 2017 at 1 p.m. at New Home Baptist Church in Barnwell with Rev. Harris Barker presiding. Interment followed at New Home Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Marion Felder was the beloved son of the late Mrs. Julia Tilley and the late Mr. Archie Kennedy. He was raised by the late Mrs. Sara Britt.
He was born on April 12, 1951 in Barnwell.
He departed this life on Friday, February 24, 2017 at MCG in Augusta, Ga.
William Duke Fields, 75, of Florence, passed away on Saturday, March 4, 2017.
Mr. Fields was born in Barnwell, a son of the late Clarence Fields and Tencher Duke. He was a graduate of the Barnwell School System. He was a train conductor with AmTrak Railroad and loved his job. Mr. Fields was an avid golfer and loved to shag.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jackie Fields.
