Lowman Still

Lowman Still, 61, of Barnwell, died Jan. 28, 2009 at his residence.

Funeral service was held Jan. 30 at Greenbranch Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Revs. Leroy Dobson, Alfred Still and Raymond Satterfield officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Dyches Funeral Home of Barnwell was in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Still was born in Barnwell County. He was the son of the late Levy Still and Ida Mae Grubbs. He retired from Milliken textile after 40 years. He was a member and deacon at Greenbranch Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Manderlene Ritter Youmans

Manderlene Ritter Youmans, 52, of Allendale, died Jan. 26, 2009.

Funeral service was held Jan. 31 at St. Luke Baptist Church with burial in the Hoover Cemetery.

Cave Funeral Services, Inc. of Allendale was in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Youmans was the daughter of Mary Alice Smalls Ritter and the late Clyde Ritter Sr.

Survivors include her husband, Johnnie James Youmans; children, Shalonda L. Youmans and Johnnie J. Youmans Jr., her mother; one brother, Clyde Ritter Jr. and four grandchildren.

Jack Ray

Jack Ray, 78, of Orangeburg, died Jan. 31, 2009 at the Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg.

Funeral service was held Feb. 3 at Amazing Grace Pentecostal Holiness Church, Orangeburg with the Revs. Dale Phillips and Steve Rucker officiating. Burial was in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Orangeburg. Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. of Orangeburg was in charge of the arrangements.

Virginia Owens

Virginia Owens, 83, of Allendale, died Jan. 18, 2009 at the John Edward Harter Nursing Center.

Funeral service was held Jan. 24 at St. Mark Baptist Church, Allendale, with burial in the Trinity Cemetery. Cave Funeral Services, Inc. of Allendale was in charge of the arrangements.

Willie James Williamson

Willie James Williamson, 83, of New York, died Jan. 23, 2009. Funeral service was held Jan. 29 at Parchester Funeral Home, Bronx, N.Y. with burial in the Maple Grove Park Cemetery, Hackensack, N. J.

Mr. Williamson was born Feb. 14, 1925 in Barnwell County. He was the son of the late Bryant and Ollie Williamson. He was married to the late Leevedar N. Williamson for over 60 years. He joined the Bethlehem Baptist Church of Barnwell at an early age.

Leroy Tyler

Leroy Tyler, 52, of North Charleston, died Jan. 15, 2009 at his residence.

Funeral service was held Jan. 24 at Greater Sweet Branch Baptist Church, Govan. Burial was in the Honey Ford Cemetery. The Lebby Funeral Home of Denmark was in charge of the arrangements.

Frank Lavern Bodiford

Frank Lavern Bodiford, 66, of Williston, died Jan. 22, 2009 at his residence.

Mr. Bodiford was born in Barnwell County. He was the son of the late Horry and Juanita Carroll Bodiford. He was owner/operator of Bodiford's Backhoe Service, a member of Long Branch Baptist Church and was a US Navy veteran. He was

John M. Garrick

John M. Garrick, 63, of Blackville, died Jan. 17, 2009 at his home.
Memorial service will be held at a later date in the Norway Cemetery, Norway. Mole Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Garrick was born on Feb. 28, 1945 in Charleston. He was the son of the late Harris and Custis Kittrell Garrick. He was an Army veteran and had retired from the Naval Shipyard in Charleston.
Survivors include two daughters, Brooke Garrick Beasley of Lyman and Amy Garrick of Barnwell; three sisters, Joan Bean of Lilburn, Ga., Peggy (Robert O.)

Mary Lee Redd Greene

Mary Lee Redd Greene, 86, of Williston, died Jan. 24, 2009.
Funeral service was held Jan. 28 at Barnwell Church of Christ. Graveside service will be held Jan. 30 at Good Shepherd Memorial Gardens in Ocala, Fla. Folk Funeral Home of Williston was in charge of he arrangements.
Mrs. Greene was born in Foote, Miss. She was the daughter of the late Walter Alson and Ida Missouri Bruce Redd. She was a homemaker and a member of Barnwell Church of Christ, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star where she served as past worthy matron.

Fay Elaine Hatcher, 66, of Windsor, died Jan. 24, 2009 at her residence.
Graveside service was held Jan. 27 at Aiken Memorial Gardens and Mausoleum, Aiken. Folk Funeral Home of Williston was in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Hatcher was born in Sandia, Texas. She was the daughter of the late Arthur Clemmons and Viola Mae Bish Clemmons. She retired from Aiken County School system and formerly worked for the Aiken Standard. She was predeceased by a sister, Pam McCoy and two brothers, Jr. McCoy and Richard McCoy.

Frances Johnson Holmes, 87, of Barnwell, widow of David Harmon Holmes died Jan. 18, 2009 at the Bamberg County Nursing Center.

Maurice Anthony Clark-Ray, 23, of Barnwell, died Dec. 17, 2008 in Winston-Salem, N. C.

Memorial service will be held Jan. 3, 2009 at Greater Faith Church, 179 Calhoun St., Barnwell with Apostle Belton Williams officiating. Burial will be held out of state.

Mr. Clark-Ray was born May 2, 1985 in Queens, N. Y. He was the son of Michael Ray and Maureen Ray-Barker. He was baptized at an early age in Winston-Salem, N. C. He attended Barnwell County public schools and graduated in June 2003 from Barnwell High School.
