Jessie Lloyd Little Jr. (Barnwell)

Jessie Lloyd Little Jr., 97, passed away September 11, 2017 at his home in Barnwell.

Mr. Little was born on November 24, 1919 in Quinton, Ala. He was the son of the late Jessie Lloyd Little Sr. and Ethal Alexander Scoggins. He served in the United States Navy and the United States Navy Reserve and was a retired Instrument Technician with Dupont. He was a member of the Barnwell First Baptist Church and Harmony Masonic Lodge of Barnwell.

John D. Thomas (Williston)

John D. Thomas, 67, of Williston, passed away at home on Monday, September 11, 2017. No formal services are planned at this time.
Born in Charleston, WV, he was the son of the late Alice Stanley and Harman H. Thomas. His father was one of the first Merchant Marines to enter Russia during WW II. John retired from SRS as a quality lab analyst.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda Louise Allen Thomas of the home; several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and many other family members whom he loved.

Rose Mary Badger (Allendale)

Ms. Rose Mary Badger, aka “Blue”, age 77, was born on July 7, 1940 in Allendale to the late Henry and Ora Lee Elmore.

Seeking God’s direction and guidance, she joined the Beautiful Gate Baptist Church in Allendale where she served faithfully as secretary for 55 years, was on the Usher Board and Program Committee, and she organized the Junior Choir. She was also a member of the Mt. Hope Benevolent Society for many years and the Mt. Calvary Association and BTU Sunday School Convention.

Sarah Ann Brooker (Allendale)

Ms. Sarah Ann Brooker, age 66, was born on July 27, 1951, in Allendale, to the late Theodore and Addie G. Brooker.

Seeking God’s direction and guidance, she joined the Sweet Bethel CME Church in Allendale, where she served faithfully until she relocated to Orangeburg.

She was a 1971 graduate of the CV Bing High School in Allendale and later furthered her education at Denmark Tech in Denmark. She worked at JP Stevens and the Allendale Sewing Plant in Allendale for many years, and was also an Avon Sales Rep for many years.

Robin L. Owens (Barnwell)

A Celebration of Life Service for Robin Lynn Owens, 56, of Barnwell, will be held 3 p.m., Saturday, September 9, 2017 in the Folk Funeral Home Chapel, Williston, with the Reverends Mark Watford and Tommy Hutto officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Saturday.

Robin passed away on Saturday, September 2, 2017.

Born in Maryland, she was a daughter of the late Raymond Edward Owens Jr. and Dorothy Hattie Hutto Owens. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, was a homemaker and an in-home caretaker.

Oliver D. Chavis Sr. (Barnwell)

Oliver “Danny Boy” Daniel Chavis Sr. 79, of Barnwell went to be with his Lord August 25, 2017. A graveside service was held on Monday, August 28, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Green Branch Church cemetery, Barnwell, S.C., with the Rev. David Flanders officiating. Visitation was held Sunday, August 27, 2017 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Dyches Funeral Home and Crematory, Barnwell, S.C.

Clinton Owens Jr. (Blackville)

A memorial service for Clinton “BoBo” Etheredge Owens Jr., 63, of Blackville, S.C. was held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at Trinity Baptist Church, Galilee Road, Barnwell, S.C. The family received friends on Monday August 28, 2017 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Trinity Baptist Church and other times at the home of Trina and Dean Griffin.

The family has asked that memorials be made to Folk Funeral Home, P.O. Box 367, Williston, SC 29853.

Clinton passed away on Saturday, August 26, 2017.

Coyce 'Butch' Holbrook (Barnwell)

Coyce “Butch” Holbrook, 71, of Barnwell, passed away Friday, September 1, 2017 peacefully in his sleep at his home surrounded by family. A private service will be held at a later date.

He was the son of the late J.C. Holbrook and Myra Dailey. Butch owned Vintage Services Inc. for over 30 years in Barnwell. He loved traveling and gardening. He will be missed by many.

Survivors include one stepson, Joseph Jeter; and brother-in-law, Russ Wicker.

He is preceded in death by his wife, JoAnne Holbrook.

Stanley Ray Gray (Aiken)

A Celebration of Life service for Stanley Ray Gray, 69, of Aiken, SC will be held 4 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2017 in the Folk Funeral Home Chapel, Williston, S.C., with Military Honors accorded. The Pastor Steve Hall will be officiating.

The family will receive friends on hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Tuesday and other times at the home of Wesley and Stacey Gray in Salley.

Mr. Gray passed away on Friday September 1, 2017.

Hartley Glenne Smoak Elliott (Barnwell)

Hartley Glenne Smoak Elliott of Barnwell was called home on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at Augusta University Hospital.

Born on July 19, 2017 in Augusta, she was the daughter of Clay Austin and Jessica Smoak Elliott.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 in the Mole Funeral Home Chapel at 1 p.m., with Rev. Ken Catoe officiating. Burial will follow in the Barnwell County Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until time of the service at the funeral home.

Dennis Addison (Martin)

Funeral services for Dennis Addison, 70, of 144 Addison Circle, Martin, SC were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at Mt Hope Baptist Church with Reverend Michael O’Neal officiating.  Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Norman Rhett Dyches (Blackville)

Funeral services for Norman Rhett Dyches, 79, of Blackville, SC will be held eleven a.m., Monday, August 28, 2017 at       at Healing Springs Baptist Church with the Reverends Jeffery Ray, Donnie Delk and Dr. Thomas Terry officiating. Burial will be in the Blackville Cemetery with Masonic Rites accorded. The family will receive friends from four to six p.m. Sunday at Folk Funeral Home, Williston, SC. Memorial contributions may be given to Healing Springs Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 394, Barnwell, SC  29812.  Rhett passed away on Saturday, August 26, 2017.

Doris Shirah (Blackville)

A graveside funeral service for Doris Zeigler Shirah, 86, of Blackville, will be held 5 p.m. Saturday, August 26, 2017 at the Blackville Cemetery with the Reverends Tommy Hutto and Tom Polk officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Saturday from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. at Folk Funeral Home, Williston.

Mrs. Shirah passed away on Wednesday, August 23, 2017.

Mary Ann Boyda Fenn (Barnwell)

A graveside funeral service for Mary Ann Boyda Fenn, 76, of Barnwell, will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, August 26, 2017 at Living Waters Baptist Church Cemetery, formerly known as Lighthouse Church Cemetery, Galilee Road, Barnwell.

Mary Ann passed away on Thursday, August 24, 2017.

Born in McKeesport, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Ernest & Irene Boyda. She was a member of Victory Baptist Church and previously worked at K & M Manufacturing in the sewing room.

Margie Black Croft Folk (Barnwell)

Margie Black Croft Folk, 79, of Barnwell, the widow of Alvin Croft and John Folk, passed away Sunday, April 30, 2017 in Aiken.

Margie was born in Blackville on June 5, 1937 to the late Eddie C. and Mattie Still Black. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and previously worked at Shuron, Milliken, and Denmark Flea Market. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Ocie Greene Jones (Barnwell)

Ocie Jeanette Greene Jones, 85, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, August 19, 2017 surrounded by her loving family at Pruitt Health Barnwell.

Mrs. Ocie was born on April 24, 1932 in Charlotte, N.C. She was a daughter of the late Ira Devona and Ocie McSwaine Greene. She was a retired employee with Barnwell School District 45 lunchroom program. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a kind and sweet lady who will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Betty 'Sug' Edwards (Barnwell)

Betty C. “Sug” Edwards, 75, passed away on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 in the St. Joseph Hospital in Savannah, Georgia surrounded by her loving family.

Sug was born in Savannah on April 21, 1942 and was a daughter of the late Wylie and Julia Crosby LeGrand. She was a retired employee of the S.C. Department of Social Services Barnwell Office. She was a member of Seven Pines Baptist Church. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and friend. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
