Richard Lee Workman - Barnwell

Deacon Richard Lee Workman, 62, of Barnwell, was born to the late Mr. Leon & Gertrude Workman on November 6, 1954.

At an early age, Deacon Workman was baptized and became a member of Morris Chapel Baptist Church. Deacon Workman later dedicated his life back to the Lord and joined Greater Faith Ministries. Up until the time of his declining health, you could find him on security, driving the van, collecting the offerings or working on the family life center. He was a faithful servant.

Benny Garvin - Barnwell

Benny Alvin Garvin, 63, of Barnwell, was the son of the late Heyward Sr. and Emma Garvin Reed. He was born in Springfield on February 3, 1954.

At an early age seeking God’s direction and guidance, he joined Bethlehem Olar in Olar where he served as a trustee.

Benny received his education in the Orangeburg County Public School System. He graduated from Hunter-Kinard-Tyler High School, Norway, Class of 1972. Benny was part of the U.S. Naval Reserve for three years. He later worked for Hubbard in Aiken.

Betty Ann O'Berry McClain - Barnwell

Ms. Betty Ann O’Berry McClain, age 69, was born on December 13, 1947 in Barnwell to Albertha Brown O’Berry and the late Eugene O’Berry Sr.

At an early age, she sought God’s direction and guidance, and joined the Second Mount Olive Baptist Church in Barnwell.

Betty received her education at the Butler School in Barnwell. She worked at Hanes Brands, formerly known as Sara Lee Sock Company, as a machine technician for many years before retiring.

Leon Boyer - Williston

A graveside funeral service for Howard Leon “Blue” Boyer, 70, of Williston, will be held 3 p.m., Sunday, July 9, 2017 at the Williston Cemetery with U.S. Coast Guard and Masonic Rites accorded. Dale passed away on Saturday, July 8, 2017.

Born in Augusta, Ga., he was a son of Clarence Buford “C.B.” Lenard and Carolyn Newsome Howard.

William Harold Kerr - Allendale

William Harold Kerr, 72, of Allendale, passed away on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

William Harold was born on December 16, 1944 in Orangeburg. He was a son of the late Harold and Dora Hazel Kerr. He was the retired owner of Warren’s Hardware of Allendale and a member of Great Salkehatchie Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. He was a friend to many and will be missed by his family and friends.

Marie Owens Wall - Barnwell

Marie Owens Wall, 57, of Barnwell, went to be with her Lord on Monday, July 3, 2017 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Marie was born on January 29, 1960 in Barnwell. She was a daughter of John Louis Owens and the late Rosa Lee Still Owens. She was a pharmacy tech at the Denmark CVS and a member of Friendship Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and sister and will be remembered lovingly by her family and friends.

Betty Stanley All - Fairfax

Betty Stanley All, wife of James J. All, died Saturday, July 1, 2017 at her home in Fairfax.

Betty was born in Varnville on October 25, 1950 to the late Harry and Mattie Long Stanley. Betty was the youngest daughter and was often speculated to be the most favorite of Harry and Mattie’s seven children.

She was predeceased in death by her brothers Tony, Billy, Jimmy, Dennis as well as her sister Connie Winn. She is survived by her beautiful sister, Louise Long.

Genia Richardson - Williston

A Celebration of Life service for Genia Soulier Richardson, 55, of Williston were held 3 p.m. on Sunday, July 2, 2017 at Folk Funeral Home Chapel, Williston. The family received friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Sunday.

Genia passed away on Thursday, June 29, 2017.

Born in Akron, Ohio and raised in Unicoi, Tenn., Genia was a daughter of the late Gary and Pauline Roberts Soulier both of Erwin, Tenn.

David O'Neal Hair - Barnwell

David O’Neal Hair, 67, of Barnwell, passed away on June 28, 2017 in the Charlie Norwood Veterans Hospital in Augusta, Georgia.

O’Neal was born in Bamberg County on August 22, 1949. He was a son of Dorothy Wood Hair and the late David O Hair. He was a retired truck driver and was a Marine Corps veteran. He was a member of the Church of God.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday July 1, 2017 in the Barnwell Co. Memorial Cemetery at the airport. Visitation will be held on Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Mole Funeral Home.

Karen 'Kay' Kinard - Summerville

A graveside funeral service for Karen Marsha “Kay” Kinard, 68, of Summerville, formerly of Williston, will be held 1 p.m., Saturday, July 1, 2017 at the Williston Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. on Saturday at Folk Funeral Home, Williston.

Kay passed away on Sunday, June 25, 2017.

William D. “Bill” Hochstetler - Barnwell

In loving memory of William D. "Bill" Hochstetler of Jackson St., Barnwell.

(November 26, 1936 - June 24, 2017)

Born in Wayne County, Ohio, Bill was the oldest child of the late David W. & Anna J. (Miller) Hochstetler. He married Ruby S. Miller of Indiana on September 8, 1960. Moving from Indiana to South Carolina in 1965, Bill & family became founding members of Barnwell Mennonite Church. He was most recently a member of Dayspring Mennonite Church in Salley. All 12 surviving children carry on his legacy of faith in Christ.

George Rhoads - Barnwell

George Cecil Rhoads, 80, of Barnwell, passed away on Saturday, June 24, 2017. No formal services are planned at this time.

Born in Akron, OH, he was a son of the late Kenneth W. Rhoads and Mable Delilah Rock Rhoads. Mr. Rhoads was a truck driver for many years.

Joe Zeigler - Blackville

Wilmon Bing Jr. - Williston

Mr. Wilmon Bing Jr. was born July 31, 1950 to the late Wilmon Bing Sr. and Blandena Barton Bing. He departed this life on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at 3:50 p.m. at Aiken Regional Medical Center, Aiken.

A Celebration of Life in memory of Wilmon will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at noon at Second Baptist Church of Barnwell with Rev. Phillip Thomas as the presiding official and Rev. Phinice Young as eulogist. Committal, benediction and invaultment will follow at Hope Memorial Park in Barnwell.

David Carter - Barnwell

Our dearly beloved David Carter left this earthly domain on June 16, 2017.

The loss of this beautiful spirit will leave a tremendous void in the lives of all those that knew and loved him. David was a jovial, loving, energetic, comedic and entertaining spirit. His laughter was contagious. His genuine love for family was a trait that all admired.

David Carter was born to Deacon Stephen M. and Mrs. Carrietta W. Carter on July 9, 1935. He was the 4th oldest of their 12 children.
